And suddenly a light appears inside my brain
WHO: Matt & Natasha
WHERE: Their house
WHEN: Wednesday evening, following the events of the afternoon
WARNINGS: Uh
SUMMARY: Dealing with the aftermath of the trial.
FORMAT: Quick.
[Matt was released from the hospital after a few hours. He had an obligation to play along and play up the poor blind lawyer act, and thus he had to sacrifice the better part of his evening. But he is home now, and presumably so was Natasha. And while Harvey Dent is still at large, they can at least take a moment to catch their breath and maybe even celebrate before getting back down to business.
First thing Matt does when he slinks back into the brownstone is sink onto the sofa and kick off his shoes.]

She had wanted to wait with him but instead she had gone home, after ever reassurance that the injuries weren't serious. And she had waited, with more baited breath than she'd admit to out loud.]
You're home?
[She was in the other room, but of course she didn't need to raise her voice to be heard.]

[He doesn't bother to get up, head tiling back against the cushions and he slides into a comfortable position and spreads out like an expanding cat. He's got a bandage above one of his eyebrows, just to cover up the stitches needed to repair the damage Harvey left with the chair, and it's taking a lot of his willpower not to pull the damn thing off and pick at them.]
So're you.

[She walks into the room where Matt is resting. It's been fixed up nicely since the Bullseye incident.]

[He never doubted they would, but it's a relief that she's here and safe and that it all went according to plan. Well. Sort of.]
They didn't give you a hard time, right?

I can take care of myself, you know. [She was much more worried about Matt than she was about herself.]
no subject
[He scoots over a bit, making room for her on the sofa if she wishes to join him.]
Today was a mess.

They haven't found Dent, yet.

I guess I know what I'm doing tonight.

[Men. Going in, injured and unprepared, would just make things worse.]
no subject
[Though he does still hurt and he is loathe to get up again now that he's sunk into the couch. The woes and futility of growing old.]
no subject
[But that doesn't change anything, Matt.]
no subject
[There's the slightest edge of desperation in his voice.]
