Hello, hello
WHO: The Power kids and Sue Storm
WHERE: uhhhh some place with privacy?
WHEN: Wednesday
WARNINGS: None
SUMMARY: The kids have questions and Sue just might have the answers.
FORMAT: Quick-ish
[The past few days for Katie had consisted of trying to catch her brother up with her timeline and arguing with said brother about nearly all of it. While, despite the fighting, she was glad to have him here, Katie was just as glad for the break seeing Sue would provide. Katie had been wanting the chance to really talk to her since she arrived and she knew Alex would have questions as well.
Katie ran past and ahead of her brother, looking around for Sue and expression just daring her brother to make any fuss today.]

in fact, it's probably a good thing they're in a public space, or else he might be tempted to do more than just gripe at his sister on the way over here. he'd finally convinced Katie to leave the Xavier Institute and come to the MAC with him, but she hadn't been happy about it, and that plus the stress of hashing out timeline nonsense has had him on edge the past few days.
hopefully this meeting will at least shed some light on the Fantastic Four's situation in the City. Alex has to admit he's curious. Katie keeps trying to tell him that something's wrong with the Dr. Richards here, but Alex hasn't seen any evidence to support that statement. he's also nervous that "Sue" knows about Power Pack, but that can't be helped. ]
Katie! Don't run so far ahead.
[ he's only complaining for the sake of it at this point, though. Alex spots Sue nearby and waves Katie over as he approaches. he's much politer now, in the presence of a grown-up. ]
Hello, Ms. Storm.

We're glad you could come see us.
no subject
Of course. Thank you for inviting me. I'm glad for the chance to meet you both.
[She turns to Alex, not recognizing him immediately as she had Katie.]
You must be Alex. I'm Sue.
no subject
Hi...Sue. [ that'll take some getting used to. ] Yeah, I'm Alex. It's nice to meet you, I guess--that is, uh, the you from your world.
[ KATIE, QUICK, SAY SOMETHING TO DISTRACT HER FROM THE AWKWARD. ]
no subject
[Nope. Going to call attention to the awkward like a champ of a little sister.]
How have you been? I haven't heard from you since all that fighting happened.
no subject
[She eyes the kids carefully, reminded faintly of herself and Johnny, only in reverse.]
How about you two? All settled in at the Institute?
no subject
Alex hesitates before answering Sue, giving his sister a warning glance. they're not living at the Institute, and he doesn't want to lie, especially not to someone they were so close to back home....but everyone here seems to want to make sure he and Katie will be supervised, and that's not really conducive to Power Pack superheroics. ]
...Yeah. We're all settled in, Mrs. Ri--uh, Sue. [ clearly uncomfortable. about lying; about everything. ] What is it that you're researching, if you don't mind me asking?
no subject
We're both doing fine. The people there are nice.
no subject
[She looks excited, but then she realizes that it might not be interesting for the kids.]
I haven't visited the Institute yet. I suppose I should drop by sometime.
no subject
[ hopefully she won't show up too soon. Alex doesn't plan on keeping the truth from Sue forever, especially not if she's nice like Katie says. they just need a chance to get settled into their new place first, so that everyone can see the two of them can handle themselves. ]
Your skin must have a lot of special properties, Sue--yanno, being you. What are you trying to do with the synthetics?
[ it's a distraction AND a science talk! Alex wins! ]
no subject
Skrull genetics? There are Skrulls here?
no subject
There aren't any Skrulls here anymore. There were some that attacked the City, but the imPorts banded together to defeat them.
[She gives Katie's shoulder a reassuring squeeze, just to be safe.]
The synthetics are designed to be used in place of a skin graft. They'll allow burn victims and other patients with skin maladies a permanent, less painful option in their recovery.
no subject
[ and huh cool. biology isn't Alex's focus of interest when it comes to science, but the applications Sue's describing sound really useful. ] Do those synthetics work? Have you tested them?
no subject
[She smiles slightly at the contact]
I think that's great you're putting something like that to good use.
no subject
[She turns to Alex again, genuinely excited to talk about science, and to meet children who like it as well.]
We've done months of testing in our lab and we've just been approved to begin trial tests with human patients.
no subject
also, the bit about the synthetic skin is really, really cool. ]
...It sounds like you're doing really well in the City, Mrs.--uhm, Sue. [ darnit, he slipped. subject change time! ] You've really been in the City for months?
no subject
[Lightly] She's been here longer than me.

Sounds good. There's some vendors and restaurants pretty close by--we can talk on the way. It's kind of a long story, but it sounds like we've got time.
[ he has a knee-jerk negative response to the thought of spilling a bunch of personal (family!) information to a woman who's basically a stranger to them in this world, but...it's Sue, and she apparently knows all the important stuff already. they've lied enough for one day, right? ]
no subject
You probably already know how famous you and the rest of the Fantastic Four is in our universe. And that you're married to, um, you know.
[She glances at Sue sheepishly.]
