Woke up to a grocery list
WHO: Jesse, a whole gaggle of unfortunate gang members and whoever is out
WHERE: All over the bad places and the Carrier
WHEN: September 4th - September 10th
WARNINGS: Violence, language, teen angst
SUMMARY: School's about to start, so Jesse's cleaning up the streets a little before that.
FORMAT: Tagger's choice
[ It wasn't like she really liked fighting (except when she did). It was just that there was a shit load of things going on there were just way beyond her control. And it's not that she's not used to that. It's just that the things she can't control outweigh the things she can. Jesse knows she's not going to get control by sitting around and staying out of trouble. So she goes out and finds some.
There's some things that are innate, even in a different city and a different world. She buys a cheap map of the City and a couple markers, covering the maps with highlights and notes of where the kids are, where the gangs are and where the two converge. She sleeps on the Carrier and spends a lot of time talking to kids. She spends a lot more time punching a lot of really deserving people in the face.
And she's actually kind of okay with that.]

the 8th
Despite having been here for months now, he still doesn't know his way around certain parts of the City. It's probably twice as large as the one back home, so getting lost isn't difficult when you don't where to get off at a subway station because you haven't utilized it often. He meant to get off at a later stop, but opts to walk the rest of the way now.
He does realize about a block down he's being tailed by a couple of bigger, unpleasant looking men. He's not sure why (maybe they want to rob him) and he realizes he's at a slight disadvantage with his arm still in a sling.
He keeps a hand close to his coat pocket, where his gun is and carries along as if he hasn't noticed them. ]

Sup.

J-Jesse?! Don't do-- What are you doing here?! [ Immediately, he cants his head to see where those two other men are. They've stopped for now, but it looks like they're still watching. ]
no subject
Uh, patrolling? Or whatever the fuck they call it, this is part of my turf.
[ That gets some really upset sounds from the men behind her. Good. ]
Anyway, where the hell have you been, man? I was looking everywhere for you.
no subject
What? Are you doing something illegal? [ He still can't justify kids playing heroes. ] You don't know what kind of people are out here.
[ He starts moving, trying to usher Jesse to come along with his good arm. He doesn't want to stick close to those other guys. ]
You were? [ He's surprised; he didn't think being unavailable for a few days is that big of a deal here... is it? ]
no subject
[ She lets Gilbert tug her along for now. She wants more time before he freaks out over her beating up people. Or something. ]
Uh, fucking duh. It was raining fucking tentacles or some shit. I wanted to make sure. You know.
no subject
Oh... I'm fine. [ He doesn't look at her. ] If I worried you I'm sorry...
no subject
[ Huh. That sounds a bit rough and actually a little hurt. Jesse shakes it off. ]
Anyway, I guess we'll consider us even depending on how bad you freak out in the next 30 seconds.
[ Because the large men had decided to try and take advantage of their quiet moment. For big guys, they can move pretty fast and Jesse tries to shove Gilbert down an away as she swings up and roundhouse kicks one in the face. She finds her balance briefly on the dope's shoulders, slamming her foot into the second man's face and jumping, using her momentum to drive both men face first into the concrete.
She pauses, ready in case the get back up. When they don't, she looks back at Gil. ]
So yeah. Now we're even.
no subject
He didn't even notice how fast those guys had snuck up on them. Jesse's just as fast; he can barely keep up her with her movements, standing there shocked at how well-timed and precise her actions are.
Then he feels like an idiot for standing there doing nothing. Except, as he draws his pistol, he sees those two guys aren't rising back up. He keeps his weapon in his hand anyway. ]
What the hell...
no subject
I told you, dude. I'm a superhero.
no subject
You were telling the truth?
[ Where's the silly costume and/or code name?! ]
no subject
[ She walks over the two fallen men, patting the hand Gil has his gun in. ]
Better put that away, yo.
[ She was cool with whatever trouble came her way, but Gil didn't look like he was handling this too well. ]
Oh hey, sorry about pushing you. Your arm okay?
no subject
He's already putting a hand on her shoulder to lead her away, moving fast himself. ]
It's alright. We should leave this place quickly.
no subject
[ But she lets him steer her away nonetheless. Now that the excitement's over he might notice that she's looking a bit scruffier than normal. ]
So hey, what the hell happened with you anyway?
1/2
I feel so nervous my stomach hurts...
no subject
Nothing... I'm fine, Jesse.
no subject
Lair. You just said your stomach hurt.
no subject
At least value yourself!
[ He doesn't mean to let it out in an outburst... it just happens. ]
no subject
Dude. Back off.
no subject
Um...
no subject
[ She turns sharply, stuffing her hands in her pockets and stalking away. ]
The way I see, I do a better job taking care of myself than any of you guys do.
no subject
This isn't anything. [ But there's really no way to justify that with a broken arm. He didn't want to fight the Void-- but he couldn't let that thing go after a city the Sentry protected. ]
no subject
[ She hasn't quite mastered a completely ice cold tone, but man, she's trying. ]
no subject
... Let's just go back to the MAC.
no subject
[ Her skateboard lands on the ground with a loud clatter and unless Gil says something to stop her, she'll be gone. ]
