[ kanaya, on the other hand, needed a very stiff drink if she was going to get through this ordeal with her nerves intact. yes, there were many very attractive half-naked girls about, but the whole thing made her probably more uncomfortable than aroused.

she barely even noticed vriska as she passed from the bar to her own table, she was too preoccupied by trying not to herself be a prude. ]

[Vriska straightens up from where she was hunched over her table when she sees Kanaya moving by.]

Wow, Fussyfangs. First you come to the shitty club, and then you don't even say hi to me? Who pissed in your grubflakes today?

[ kanaya actually jumps a little when vriska speaks and stops in her tracks. she has to be careful not to slosh her drink, which she quickly sips down a little in case this happens again. she was entirely in her head there, vriska, it is the only safe place. ]

[She hunches back over her drink while still keeping her eyes on Kanaya.]

[ she takes a long sip of her drink. her glow waxes a little. she is a terrible liar. ]

[Vriska sips at her drink, eyeing her skeptically over her glass.]

[ she slumps down in the chair opposite vriska and buries her face in her hands. ]

I don't know, the truth? I knew this club was going to be a total bust, it's not like I'm expecting you to enjoy it. Strider really knows how to pick a shitty place, right?

They're getting enough from everybody else, one or two people not tipping isn't going to make a huge difference. They get a cut of the door price anyway, don't they? I paid that, and if I'm not interested in what's going on here, then it's stupid to keep giving them money. Besides, the more you give them, the more they expect from you! It's an endless cycle of wasting your money.

Anything would be better than what you're doing or what they would do. But if I were going to make a real investment of it, it would definitely be for a sailing vessel.

I think you're getting me confused with what Ampora usually looks like on a boat. I'm more than capable of sailing a ship. I could even lead a whole fleet if it happened to strike my fancy! And you know what? Maybe I will.

A fleet! Oh, no no no no! [ she exaggerates the motion of shaking her head, mentally counting back how many no's she'd just said. ] No, no...no. [ seven. no eighth. this is important. ]

Commanding a fleet means not only dealing with others, but expecting them to listen to you. And who would ever dare do that?
