[ okay, so...this was a thing. it was incontrovertibly a thing that they were at a strip club and everything that entailed. kanaya doesn't know how to feel about it, really, and has taken to drinking heavily to compensate.

she's jumpy as a mouse any time the girls approach her, but every time she tries to tip them to satisfy them enough that they'll go away, they tend to do the very opposite, and hang around to show her a good time. she is not sure she's having a good time.

she wants to scream every time she's offered a lap dance. her face is bright green and her glow's out of control. she is literally going to die tonight if this keeps going as it has been. again. ]

[ They've only spoken a few times and not for months after, but Jesse's pretty sure there aren't too many pretty, glowing ladies in the City.

She watches from the bar for a few minutes before sauntering over and taking a seat next to Kanaya. ]

You know, they're gonna keep coming back if you give 'em that much money.

[ oh, it takes her a moment to register that she has company, and her glow wavers a little in response before she gives jesse a nod. ]

Well, I...it is still a profession and I would like to respect their work, but... [ she doesn't navigate well around hot ladies. ] ...I suppose I'm unfamiliar with the etiquette of the situation.

[ She returns the nod and smiles a little. ]

If you wanna leave a tip, that's fine, but heavy tippers get special attention. And I'm guessing that's not what you want.

Well, not...overtly. It would be easier to watch from a distance.

[ she downs the entirety of her glass and lets out a long exhale afterwards, this evening has gotten entirely away from her. ] I've been going about this all wrong, haven't I?

[ Jesse glances to the stage, where some woman named Rockin' Rita is just opening up to the dulcet tones of Hot For Teacher. ]

Yeah, I'm kinda with you there. And yeah, maybe. Probably better than being stingy at least.

At least they'll already be fond of me if I change my mind.

Though somehow I doubt that would be likely. [ she's not sure if...she exactly has permission? aside from just the whole situation being overwhelming as it is. ]

I dunno if they'll be that pissed.

[ She's kinda glad she knew a few of the strippers who lived in Wilkesborough, to be honest. Otherwise, she'd probably be in the same spot as Kanaya. She grins suddenly. ]

I could always take 'em off your hands.

[ well, it's more permission from the girlfriend she's more worried about. right now she can use the excuse that she's minding rose's brother, but without her here herself, well... ]

Would you do that? I think it would simplify things immensely!

[Dave's been watching for a while since the last girl he had paid wandered off, ignoring most of the others who came up after her -- perhaps unsurprisingly, despite the fact that he talked a big game, Dave only really bothered with taking lap dances when he was sure someone was watching him in order to save face. If he had been forced to be honest, he probably would've also admitted that the whole act got weird fast, mostly because all of his friends were really awkward. Hell, he was pretty awkward, he was just better at faking it.

Kanaya was not very good at faking it, to the point that Davesprite actually feels a little bad for her. So the next time a stripper walks up to her, Dave casually slides in to cut her off to take the chair next to the troll.]

I see you're making the most of this.

[ dave, if there's anything about you that she's ever been jealous of, it's that ability to fake it. she wishes she could be so fake, it would get her out of a lot of awkwardness, most of which is self-created.

when he sits down, she sips her drink and sets her jaw, putting on the best face she can. the glow and the green do not, however, subside. ]

I'm fine, everything's fine! I'm...having an undoubtedly enjoyable experience right now.

[Dave just shakes his head.]

Loosen up, Maryam. They don't bite. Well, they might, if you ask nicely and give a good tip, I don't know.

That, um, tends to play out in reverse, actually. Though I would have to worry about Rose being jealous. ...If she isn't already. [ oh god why did she let them talk her into this she hadn't even though of that til now. ]

[Oh, Dave hadn't actually thought of that either. He kind of doesn't think of a lot of things when it comes to girls, as is often shown.]

She'll be fine. Its not like you're mackin' on 'em or anything.

Or if she was here. [ she would not seem at all as nervous as she probably was but laugh and tease a lot and make the whole thing easier to take less seriously.
