It was a beautiful city, green and lush. Morning mist locked fingers with older stone and quiet brick. Much of the populace lulled in the valley between two solid growths of mountains, cushioned in an ancient palm and electrified by the lively pulse of the crisp, rain-courted air. The temperature is brisk, chilly, but that shouldn't discourage you from enjoying the lakes and rivers breathing through the land. The city itself is equally crisp and its usually pristine avenues are ablaze with color; banners and posters and warm hellos. There was warmth everywhere, in homes and faces and hands.

room 60 (kate, kanaya, & rose) plus crashers

[Kate has her bed staked out, as evidenced by her duffle bag discarded inelegantly on the foot of the bed. She soon flops onto the mattress beside her belongings, staring up at the ceiling briefly before declaring:]

It's not the Four Seasons, but it'll do. It'll do just fine.

[ kanaya comes in with her arms full of bags. she has never been on a vacation before and she may have overpacked. it's times like these that she misses having a sylladex. if it wouldn't take so long to open a portal between here and the city to forego the plane, she might have brought even more. ]

What kind of closet space do we have available?

[Rose isn't sure what to make of Kanaya and her millions of bags. Rose has a suitcase. In her suitcase, she has enough underwear to last a month. She has a swimming suit. She has day dresses, night dresses, pajama dresses, and jeans. She can't remember if she packed teeshirts, but she is sure she did. She definitely packed scarves. A lot of them. She is thankful for scarf weather. Under all of this are five pairs of shoes, a hairbrush, her back-up toothbrush and a disposable camera. Her handbag is slung over her shoulder.

She eyes Kanaya's bags with a barely-discreet smile. Her girlfriend is ridiculous. It is incredibly cute. ]

[A glance towards Kate: ] I hear living out of a suitcase is very fashionable.

[Kate, meanwhile, has packed her bag practically. There are just enough outfits for each day of their stay, a bikini, a formal dress, extra socks and underwear. All of it fit easily and neatly into a single duffel bag, and her backpack is filled with her toiletries and school work so she doesn't fall behind while out of town. She can't imagine what on Earth these two were thinking with their excessive clothing options-- and this is coming from the girl whose hobby is making over the likes of Bucky and Phobos.]

Just leave me enough room to hang my party dress. You two can divvy up the rest.

[ kanaya, to begin with, packed at least five outfits per day. she may not need them all, but she feels better having the options. in addition to this, she packed a selection of other outfits for other people entirely, just things that she thinks they may need, and may attempt to talk them into wearing at some point.

one bag is fabric, thread, needles, various supplies. just in case an emergency should occur or inspiration strikes. she brought a handheld sewing machine. she brought a lot of makeup and something close to the full contents of her bathroom. she brought as many pairs of shoes as she could fit and still wishes she'd brought more. she just cannot shake the feeling that she's probably forgotten something. it's unlikely that she has. ] We'll make sure yours isn't buried under the others.

Is it really possible to sustain on such a minimum?

Not everyone packs their entire room, Kanaya.

[A SEWING MACHINE.

REALLY. Very subtly, she places her hand to her forehead. Is Kanaya going to carry it like a purse? Rose hopes not. What if Kate thinks they are both crazy now? What if Kanaya rips her dress and starts sewing in the middle of a party? ]

[Whoa, is this girl serious? Kate is doing her best not to judge, but holy cow who brings an actual sewing machine on vacation.]

I've found it's much easier to travel light. Not to mention it's much lower stress.

I think it would be more stress to worry whether you'd forgotten something! It's best to be prepared, even if to excess.

[ she turns around back to the door to wheel in her last item, an ice cooler of decent size. if kate doesn't think they're crazy yet, she probably will now. ] This room is equipped with a thermal hull, I hope.

what is this. why is this happening. girlfriend, you have officially brought everything but the kitchen sink. even at that, rose is not one hundred percent convinced that kanaya hasn't at least tried to bring the kitchen sink. ]

I do hope we aren't charged for excessive electrical use.

A thermal hull? [No, she doesn't really want to know.] Look, if we do get charged for power, I can loan you something. Just... try to be reasonable.

Should we lack one, I can make do with ice, I suppose. [ she glances back to her cooler. ] I just have some very vital...medication that needs to be kept cold.

My condition? Well, it isn't overly serious, merely...chronic. [ which, given its definition, seemed weird to use in referring to undeath. ]
