WARNINGS: Uh, none that I can think of.
SUMMARY: Jade's fed up with the stupid boys (John and Dave) so she's escaping to Trollhaus for the night.
FORMAT: Quick

[Jade finishes packing up anything she'll need for the evening. She takes one more quick look around to make sure she has everything. With that complete she disappears from her room in a crackle of green energy and reappears not too far from where ever it is that Kanaya currently is.]

[ kanaya's sitting on a bed in the usually empty room next to terezi's. her sketchbook is across her knees, and she's scribbling on it thoughtfully when jade appears. she's momentarily startled, more accustomed to being on the other side of this situation, but she was expecting her.

she drops the sketchbook on the bed, her page facing down, and stands up to take jade's hands in her own. ]

Oh good, you made it! [ looking around at the room with a smile, ] So, what do you think?

[Jade gives an apologetic smile for startling her. She takes a look around the room, her smile growing.]

Oh, it's very nice. And of course I made it, although I don't think John's to pleased about it.

Yes, well, given how much of it is his own doing, I don't think that's really worth catering to tonight. You deserve a night that revolves around your needs, not navigating around what everyone else is doing!

[ she lets jade's hands go free so she can retrieve a box off of the bed. it's gift-wrapped with a "happy birthday!" tag. ]

This is a bit early, but I decided that, given the current state of affairs, you might appreciate it now. Nothing so elaborate as last year, but I haven't been allowed the opportunity to plan so far ahead, either.

Oh no, I agree.

[Jade blinks at the box before taking it and unwrapping it. Once the paper is off she lets out a squeak and smiles brightly before giving Kanaya a quick hug.]

Oh this is great! It's perfect really. It'll look so nice in my room, thank you soooo much Kanaya!

I was thinking that the lights of the City have a tendency to obscure the night's sky, so this way you could still enjoy a bit of astronomy without having to move beyond it's borders. ...Easily as you may be able to do that.

[ she glances over at her sketchbook again. ] So, um. I hear you may have plans for tomorrow.

Like I said it's perfect! I can lie in my bed and enjoy the stars without having to go somewhere now. [Her smile drops and she glances away, her cheeks heating up a bit at the mention of plans. She should have known Kanaya would find out.]

Yes, I do.

[ there are things that never get past a proper busybody. the davesprite thing kind of slipped under her nose, but she was not going to let herself make that mistake again.

she reaches over and pulls her sketchpad back on her lap. ] And I'm taking for granted that you have yet to decide on an outfit.

I...just thought I'd wear something like what I normally wear. Nothing fancy since we're not doing anything big. [She sets the present to the side before settling on the bed.]

I think we could do better than that.

[ she holds up her sketchbook to show a few outfits she'd been drawing, the vague and incomplete figures wearing them each featuring dog ears and long dark hair. they're each marked with a label, Casual, Formal, Cute, Slightly Less Casual, and another one that's been scribbled out, but looks like it may have at one point said Sexy.

they aren't all quite finished, and none of them are colored yet, but she has a few palettes she was testing in the top corner of the paper. ]

[Jade adjusts her glasses as she leans forward to get a better look at the sketches. She lets out a thoughtful hum before looking back up at Kanaya.]

They look nice. [Unlike Karkat she's more willing to let Kanaya pick something out for her, even if she doesn't see a need for getting all dressed for the this date.]

Any you feel a particular affinity with? [ she subtly moves her hand over the Slightly Less Casual sketch and extends her index finger. she apparently likes that one.

(and of course it may be hard to have jade show a preference for any one without knowing how they actually look and i'm sorry for that D:) ]

[She tilts her head and taps her chin as she looks over the designs.]

Hmmm...I like the casual and cute. The one labeled slightly less casual is nice too. I think whichever one you think will wow Karkat the most will be best! [Although she's pretty sure anything would "wow" Karkat.]

[ she looks back down at her ketches with a frown, she'd already scribbled out the Sexy design. ]

Well, um. I suppose we could go with the Cute. It's the one you would probably be most comfortably in, I think.

Sounds great! [She gives a little bounce.]

Are those the colours you plan to use?

[ she looks down, then back at jade, tucking her bangs behind her ear. ] Well, they were a few ideas I was testing out. I hadn't really assigned any one to an outfit just yet.

Oh. Well I trust your judgement on what colours you think will work best.

I'll have to make sure I don't leave you when something [ she stops, makes an amused noise. ] ...unpaletteable.

[Jade snickers but it turns into a full on laugh.]

Oh that would a tragedy.

[ she gives a self-satisfied grin. the pun was super-effective! ]

Of perhaps the most epic proportions! Arriving to a date looking positively garish is a horrendous crime.

[Indeed it was.]

I suppose you would know better than me. This is actually my first date that didn't take place on the ship or one of our planets...

[ the grin melts into a grimace, her glow kicks up a bit. ]

Well, I'll be honest. It's far easier to dress another for a date than yourself. I'm not...terribly confident in what level of personal success I've ever reached in such occasions.

[Jade's ears give a little flick as she slowly nods.]

I guess that make sense. You're more likely to second guess what your wearing than what someone else is wearing.

Yes, and you're allowed a different perspective on it, seeing each angle and how they interact with the person's movements. It's easier to evaluate from the standpoint of the person they'll be hoping to impress!

[Jade nods again, smiling now.]

That makes complete sense!

Oh good, well that settles it then. I was afraid maybe that answer wouldn't work.

[ she gets up and starts moving for the door. ] Now, I'll need to work quickly if I'm to have this ready for you by tomorrow night, but if you'd like I can bring my supplies in here instead of leaving you on your own.

Unless you'd prefer an hour's peace.
