What: A secured meeting at the D.O.I... Things get rolling towards Import action against Skrulls and Vulcanu
When: Thursday, 6pm

Notes: Assume your characters have been contacted by either Callie, Julian, and Jack prior to the meeting- pin pointing their interest in helping with Import support and taking down Vulcanus. Any questions just PM Brakish.

Callie waited as the Imports they had contacted filed in to the conference room. She glanced over the room, giving a nod to her assistant who closed the door. Clearing her throat, Callie stepped to the head of the conference table.

"Thank you for coming tonight. As you all should know by now... we have communicated with you due to our attempt to rallying an Import committee to finally take a stand against the organizations that threaten us and in effect, the natives that live here. The D.O.I. has been continuously running an investigation since the last major clusterfuck. We've run across a couple leads... but the trick here being most activity we are seeing is happening over seas."

Callie gave a nod, projecting a map onto the screen behind her.

"Here you see our biggest lead-- As you can see, there's some activity in England..Skrull related. Our guy in question is the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs-- Craig Williamson." She clicked to a picture of the fellow in question.

"He's fairly public, incredibly vocal about immigration restrictions, and thought fairly highly of by his government. As the Import population rose in number, he called for stronger border control. It was to the surprise of no one that he became one of the earliest supporters of the ImBargo Act, and was one of its strongest champions in the British Cabinet. His role in securing the necessary support for the Act in the Cabinet as well as within Parliament itself cannot be overstated. A popular and trusted Foreign Secretary, he is viewed on the whole as having the country’s best interests at heart, even though the ImBargo Act itself has always been a subject of controversy."

She stepped ahead. "Support for Mr Williamson suffered a marked decline after ImPorts were attacked in Venezuela by Vulcanus. Mr Williamson has given fewer press interviews over recent months, though his stance on ImBargo remains as firm as ever, and he rarely comments on protests against the Act from other quarters except to restate his own position."

She shook her head. "As you can probably guess, we need to confirm him as a possible Skrull, which requires deeper investigation.... which means infiltrating the Foreign and Commonwealth Office as agency workers. If there is corruption, it'll be found in their filing systems-- particularly evidence that Williamson's policies represented a marked change from his predecessor's. Involvement with Vulcanus will be found by way of his private office, no doubt. Records, diaries, and expenses will be telling."

Spider-Man raised a hand. "Look, I'm not exactly a gepolitically savvy type, but it strikes me that even if we do out this Williamson guy as a Skrull, the Brits aren't going to be happy that we barged into their country and started investigating one of their government higher-ups without so much as a by-your-leave. What's the plan to square this with them?"

"Good point." Callie nodded at Spider-Man. "We aren't just going to 'barge in'. I plan on approaching England in an attempt of diplomacy. Clearly a stance has been made against Import travel. I represent a federal department striving to eliminate restrictions against Imports that would not have otherwise been given to a native. Exposing Williamson in this case is just the cherry on top to a civil rights cause."

"And while you attempt diplomacy who will be breaking in through the window? Lets be honest, if they wanted diplomacy they would have opened talks when this ImBargo Act went live, or, I don't know, when everyone got screwed over in Venezuela."

"What exactly do you think I do in the D.O.I.?" Callie scoffed. "Border crossing and discussion wasn't possible when the ImBargo Act started-- for obvious reasons. It was policy that went through, and for us to do anything about it, it couldn't be a quick fix. Government goes through procedures, bureaucrats need to go through paperwork. We've finally reached a place where we can bridge the gap for discussion. Imports represent so little of the population... do you really think the whole world would see it as a top priority to discuss?" The demon laughed. "No. I will probably arrange for a discussion with a panel to touch on these points that weren't discussed in full at the time of it's importance. Politically speaking... we'll be doing the right thing. Who knows. Maybe our man will reveal himself in another way if we push the right buttons."

"Is the evidence we have convincing enough to get them to listen to us?" Spider-Man asked, head tilted. "If I were a local government official, and a bunch of those imPort guys came and told me that one of our guys is an alien infiltrator, and conveniently, he's anti-Imports... well, I'd expect the burden of proof to be on their side."

"Which is why I think it's all the more important that we solidify the connection with Vulcanus. Vulcanus has been looked at as an organization that isn't only a threat to Imports but everyone else as well. It isn't just about justice on our end." Callie offered, turning her head.

"And for the rest of us? I mean this is an interesting group to pull together for diplomacy sake." She glanced at Jack. He might be benched for bad behavior but he should also know that Jane isn't the talk first sort of woman. "Or are we just wall decor to keep you inspired?"

Spidey looked over in the redhead's direction, then back at Callie. "I'm guessing those of us on the, er, tactfully challenged side of things are what's known as 'the back-up plan.' Am I right, Miz Maggotbone? What's our job gonna be?"

"Those of you looking to pull some punches and kick some groins? If you can't control yourself or wait for the right moment, there's no point in going... any action that isn't calculated could be a danger to our mission. Now, if you're willing to stand by here while a team of us go forward with the investigation and the eventual ass-kicking of our Skrull friend, you might play a more active role in the after math... meaning... we might get leads on more like our Williamson. Or maybe Vulcanus will be pissed and retaliate. Either way, we need our heavy hitters ready for anything... whether it be defensive or aggressive responses." Callie shrugged. "We just need to keep you guys informed... and make sure we're all on the same page."

Jane raised her hands. "I'm informed and I thank you for that." There were questions she still had and Jack was going to hear them all. Maggotbone was too political for Jane's taste, but at least she had a plan.
