SUMMARY: Three teams of plucky, or possibly foolhardy, researchers set out to uncover more about certain scientific anomalies they've found that may be linked to Vulcanus.

For over a month now, the ragtag group of scientists, or at least science-minded people, gathered by Archer to hunt down scraps of information left by Vulcanus has researched and studied, studied and researched. Finally, by early June, they've narrowed their list of suspicious locations to a few targets, and by the middle of the month, they're ready to depart to investigate those locations up close.

In the tiniest hours of the morning on Tuesday, June 18th, they split off into groups and begin traveling.

Hank McCoy, Archer, and Yako Katsuragi head down to Antarctica, to get up close and find out more about reports of scientists inexplicably visiting a desolate location.

Saber, Kurt Wagner, Peter Parker, and (carefully watched by the adults) Val Richards head to Belfast, Ireland, to learn more about the city's peculiar flooding.

And Mordin Solus, Curt Connors, Minako Arisato, and Tony Stark take a flight to the Cayman Islands to see the truth of rumors about mutant turtles with human body parts growing out of them.

The intention is to be back by Saturday at the latest, and to share any important information found out there with the Network as soon as possible.

BELFAST: PLOT (closed to Kurt, Peter, and Val)

[ It doesn't take long for one thing to become clear. The mysterious floods have only one predicting factor: they begin every morning before dawn when the Albert Clock strikes 4:12.

So the challenge that awaits the party is this: they must examine the grand old Victorian clock from top to bottom and discern just what about it is so special as to affect the city's water systems. If they've got time left over after that, maybe they can check the sewers to see the floods in question up close. ]

[ While he's uncomfortable about leaving a member of their party behind, it's a practical enough choice given the situation. Their confronters, while aggressive in nature, were civilians in all likelihood. Hopefully, at any rate. A combat-trained imPort against such a group was not a very dangerous bet.

Now there's just the matter of the clock. He's not specifically sure what they're looking for, but he imagines it to be something that ought not to be there. He also assumes it best found before 4:12. Given that and the idea that they'd been caught onto... Best hurry, really. ]

Would it do to split up, cover more ground? Otherwise, I can simply teleport us up and we can work our way down.

[Peter tilts backwards and cranes his neck so he can look up the stairwell. It's as much for something to do as to gain information, as he's already got a proposal in mind.]

Whatever's causing this, it must be connected to the clock movement, otherwise they'd have no reason to hide it here. I say we start by checking that out. If we turn up empty you can work your way up while we work our way down.

[Since Peter and his spider-sense aren't warning them against anything, Val assumes the clock tower isn't immediately dangerous.]

Top down is fine with me, but Mr. Wagner should be at the sewers when 4:12 hits so we can have someone watching both locations in real time.

[She looks apologetically up at Kurt.]

Sorry about that, but you can cover the most ground and escape the fastest if something goes wrong down there.

[And Peter won't have to worry about blowing his secret identity if something goes wrong up here.]

[ Since they've come this far and gotten in past the security already, there's no further resistance as they examine the stairwell, and the building itself seems empty. If Vulcanus is doing anything here, right now it lies abandoned. ]

[ Kurt frowns and sniffs a bit disdainfully at the thought. It's followed up with a resigned sigh, though. What can ya do? ] Somebody get me the bottle of shampoo it will take to rid me of the smell, and perhaps we're even.

[ Now... The mechanical workings, he presumes, would be closer to the clock's face. Not sure of the layout from here, however, and finding the building relatively easy to sneak into, he'd also bank on walking being a fine enough route. He starts upward on the stairs. ]
