ASTHENOA

WHO: The imPorts trapped in a video game.
WHERE: The virtual world of Asthenoa.
WHEN: 10AM August 26th to 11PM August 31st.
WARNINGS: Violence and fighting. Alert me of anything else for updates.
SUMMARY: A comedy of errors: imPorts are trapped in a Vulcanus-made video game.
FORMAT: As you like it.

Asthenoa is a land set on lush rolling hills under a bright blue sky eternally streaked with clouds. The only celestial variance comes during the nightly setting, where an eternally yellow full moon partially hides behind those clouds. The people of Asthenoa may be human, or elven, or dwarven, or they may have animalistic features, but none of that is of great social concern. Asthenoa has always been this way. The heart of the land is a medieval town set upon one of the highest hills, and the middle of that town sits a majestic stone castle. The busiest part of the town is the center, which hosts the marketplace. There you can buy necessities, or meet the blacksmith and other artisans at their working studios. Beyond the artisanal studios are the taverns and the inns.

Beyond the cheerier inns is a place called The Shriveled Shrike. If you head to the second floor and knock on the third room door thrice and rub your knee against the handle once, it will magically open and expose to you a staircase. People of the Rogue class know this inherently.

The staircase is five flights long. It leads to a black market in a mile long, mile wide underground bunker, where gambling and other darker magicks are indulged. You might meet a necromancer or three. You might run into trouble.

If you were to step out beyond the town, you would have to cross a moat via the drawbridge. It’s always closed up at nighttime, you can only pass during the day.

Beyond the moat (where serpents might swim) is a hilly pasture. Beyond the pasture is an enchanted forest. Strange things happen in these gnarled woods – this is where mystical creatures lurk. Acres of dark wood house sparkling lights and floating orbs and very unusual flora. The fauna includes many mythical beings, including centaurs and fairies and griffins. There could be even more hidden within secret caves or pools of darkening water.

You feel the need to venture past this alluring wood. You feel it deeply.

For Rapunzel

Mordin's explorations have taken him to an inn within the marketplace which apparently features music and dancing in its big common room. He's been having a grand time being a magical wallflower, standing off to the side while observing everything, memorizing the notes and the steps. It's a fairly basic arrangement- lively flutes and fiddles guiding pairs of dancers through kicks and stomps as they circle each other arm-in-arm.

He's starting to get some looks, though: Mordin is the only person in the common room not participating in the dance. He's wondering if it would be wiser to join in the action, partly to stick out less and partly because it looks interesting. Too bad he has no partner though...

Rapunzel couldn't resist something like this, all these people dancing and laughing and having fun, so she's in the midst of it all, a whirl of color in her purple wizard robe with her waist-length hair swirling behind her. She's smiling and laughing, switching partners occasionally...part of her wanted to just stay here until tomorrow and ignore the strange summons into the woods. She knew she couldn't but...well, for now?

She was spun out of the crowd and stopped, leaning against a table with a laugh to catch her breath and have a drink of water before she decided to head back in.

"Rapunzel. Excellent."

Mordin's glad to see her, and that she appears to have been made a fellow spellcaster judging by her robe. He approaches her and holds out his hand.

"Can compare notes later. First: would you like to dance?" He shoots a glance off to the side. "Will help with blending in. Also, looks enjoyable."

Rapunzel smiled brightly when Mordin turned up besides her. "Oh, you're a wizard too!" She said with a laugh, and then at his question she bobbed her head, even if she looked slightly embarrassed.

"Oh I would love to Doctor!"

She caught up his hand and drug him back out to the dance floor.

"Technically a mage. Same phylum, I think."

Mordin follows Rapunzel willingly, since she's already been dancing this dance and knows how to do the steps. The NPCs around them clear a space for the new dancers, and Mordin takes Rapunzel's arm elbow-in-elbow and starts circling her.

"Glad you're safe," he says over the music. "This world seems slightly less hostile than previous universes. Good change of pace."

"...Right," Rapunzel will just think he was a wizard anyway, because it was close enough.

She moved easily along with him in toe, smiling at the people who move out of the way before she begins to dance with him, going a bit slower at first so he can find the steps.

"It's pretty exciting, honestly! And aside from all the magic, this place is quite a bit like the castle town near where Mother's tower was."

"Ah, yes. Home universe had medieval society, correct?" Mordin adapted quickly to the rhythm and steps of the dance, moving easily with Rapunzel as he kept up his usual chatter.

"Makes sense you'd find it more familiar than me. Might be able to use you as a guide." Mordin smiled, half-joking, but eager to learn what he could from Rapunzel regarding the ways of fantasy worlds. "Have had... some difficulty adapting."
