i was on my way to work when i realized i'm wasted

WHO: A WHOLE BUNCH OF PEOPLE
WHERE: Here, there, everywhere.
WHEN: Anytime from 6:00 PM to the wee hours of the morning; feel free to tag in with a specific time in your subject header.
SUMMARY: Chronos and Vector are failures and half the City goes apeshit!

It's been a lovely, warm, sunny day in the City, winding into a nice warm afternoon that definitely doesn't feel like the first day of Fall. As the sun gets lower and lower in the sky, however, something goes wrong. It's a very discreet malfunction, and even people in the general area probably won't notice it; what they will notice, however, are the temporal shockwaves emanating from the malfunctioning device.

Not to mention the eventual effects of those shockwaves. Is that man standing in the middle of the crosswalk with a lampshade on his head? Where did he even find a lampshade?

"It's what brought us all here," Bakura answered the easy part first. The not breathing enough comment worried him. "I can open the windows, if it's too warm..." he offered before hesitating a moment. "And I can try healing to see what's wrong." He hadn't really thought of the strange body consciousness that came with his healing now as a diagnostic before... but it did seem like it would help.

[NOT THE FACE well good one quick backflip and he's just out of the way enough to be able to block to protect himself, standing and ready]

..oi, stop it! I'm not going to fight you. Do you hear me?

Alastair had never really asked Kiryu how the whole formerly-dead thing worked, his Signer form and the switching. If he didn't remember it now, it wouldn't help. "Yeah, if Bakura can heal anything, let him. It'll be okay."

He felt the need to check the comm even more strongly now, but he didn't want to leave Kiryu either. Still, maybe he could contact Saitou and tell him to hurry home...

idk what Lycoris will want to do, but I want this >.>

[personal profile] satisfiedsigner 2010-09-23 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, Kiryu was in there again. Staring at those creepy eyes. He could accept that he wasn't in Satellite anymore, that somehow he'd been here before he could remember being here, that he had this really nice apartment and these great friends...but these eyes were too weird.

He looked over at the voice, much less panicked than he had been. "You're...Saitou, right?" It had to be. He looked really familiar too, but he couldn't think of why.
satisfiedsigner: ([DS] neutral)

if he tries healing, he won't find anything wrong :)

[personal profile] satisfiedsigner 2010-09-23 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Kiryu wasn't sure what Bakura was going to do, but it couldn't hurt to let him try. "If you think it'll help."
shiromadoushi: (Fanart: Magic)

Good to know :)

Bakura nodded, closing his eyes and gathering his focus. After a breif moment a soft, cool white glow gathered around his fingers as he held his hands out, hovering them inches from his brother. Slowly, the glow moved outward to sink into Kiryuu himself as Bakura's consciousness traveled along with it.

The glow spread out across Kiryuu's arms, smoothing over the scratches that showed he and Aome still weren't on the best terms. But that was all that he could find that was anything he could fix. Everything else felt just the same as it had after the last time he had healed him.

Slowly, he pulled back, eyes blinking open as he went to rub his forehead slightly. It was always so much harder to pull back when there was nothing much to heal...

"I couldn't find anything wrong. It's all the same as it was before."

He'd been in the middle of dinner, sitting in what passed for a common room in Autobase. He still hesitated to call it home, but it was certainly his house now. Just another night, sitting around picking at what Sentinel had left and Metabee hadn't devoured yet, when something shifted.

All of a sudden Waspinator was cast in metal and hovering several hundred feet over a jungle, optics scanning for Maximal movement (wasn't he hovering above the living room couch, fixated on the television?). A blink, and he was plummeting into a CR tank (or dropping onto the couch). Another, and he was drifting through a spring evening above the City on thermals and elation, arms propped up beneath his head (wasn't that the apartment ceiling inches from his face?).

Cybertronians have, by nature, very long lifespans. He had a lot of time to jump around to.

But the particularly good ones or, in some cases, the particularly bad ones, seemed to stick for longer. He spent a good hour ruling over a tribe of primitive humans, and twenty solid minutes curled up on the floor trying to get his thoughts in order after being possessed by Starscream.

So when, for whatever reason, the temporal glitch landed him a year and a half in the past, strapped to a table with Shockwave standing over him, it lasted for longer than a minute. And thinking, being sure that he could feel every razored inch cutting through the chitin of a very sensitive pair of wings?

Whatever other noise had been filling the apartment, a hoarse, buzzing scream now added to it.

Unlike some other robots, Metabee had precious little time to relive. He was just on the cusp of having been human longer than Medabot, and when time chose to go all out of sync, there were hardly as many moments for him to cycle through even as the Cybertronians were shifting through entire timelines.

Until, that was, time stopped moving backward and started drifting forward. For a moment he had been himself again - with Ikki, doing something stupid, they were always doing something stupid - and then there was a wrenching and he was older and wiser and colder and hungrier and somehow content anyway, and Waspinator was there with him, and so it was all okay.

At least, until he started screaming. Metabee knew that sound. He had to live with that sound on nights when Waspinator wasn't quite right, or quite all there, and he woke up from whatever nightmare had been plaguing him. It was probably the usual for imPorts, after the government crackdown, that kind of residual stress and pain. Didn't make his heart break any less when it happened though.

"Wasp?" he asked tenuously, crawling over to him and shaking at his shoulder gently. "C'mon, wake up. It'll be alright."

"Maybe it's just...you know, shock," Alastair suggested. "Maybe after you calm down and have something to eat and stuff, it'll go away."

Chaos bubbled up and boiled across the City all around him; it was an inescapable heat with no temperature to be sensed bodily, but utterly overwhelming in the mind. Blue was grounded by it, unable to fly focused and freely with all the sharp spasms of terror coming from one mind or another. He had to strain to focus on the physical--the things that hadn't changed so drastically. Eyes forward, seldom blinking, Soldier made his way, gently probing outward for sign of a friend. There was plenty of danger; if any of it had affected someone he knew, then...

A large swell of fear colored his vision well past what he tried to see normally, pulling him back to his mind's eye to find the source. She was a stranger, but no normal citizen. The color of her without that fear made it apparent. He only saw glimpses and flashes of what plagued her--phantoms she was so convinced were real.

Wait, he thought aloud to her. Stop. It's not-- He was stifled wincing away from another heavy thought.

"Yeah, maybe." He smiled a little, not nearly as crookedly as usual. "And I am hungry."

But if there wasn't anything wrong, why did it feel like there was?
shiromadoushi: (Yo!)

[personal profile] shiromadoushi 2010-09-23 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
Bakura gave a small smile. "I can make you something quick. I put the rice on but hadn't gotten too far with dinner yet."

There had been a distraction that was far more important, after all. But if nothing was physically wrong and Alastair was there...

Alastair was definitely there, sitting as close as he dared. He glanced up to Bakura as if to assure him that he wasn't going anywhere. "It'll be fine. We've gotten through worse together. We just gotta...figure out what's going on, I guess."

Everything was wrong.

He wandered along, dragging his gloved fingers over the surfaces of the buildings he passed by, scraping the tips into the rough brick and stone, sliding them across metal and glass. It hurt, the bumps and points digging into his hand like blunted canine teeth, but he kept doing it in the hopes that the dull greys and browns and reds would tear away and seem brighter, like they had before.

His brow furrowed as the walls seemed to do exactly that, so much paper coming away from the world around him to reveal a night sky and neon lights beneath the surface, his thoughts drowned out by the noise of people playing slot machines. The cars were difficult to avoid, his vision slightly blurred and his balance not entirely at its best anymore--Edgeworth couldn't explain why, but he felt so tired, as though he hadn't slept in days.

He continued to wander, thinking about the argument he'd had with Lupin before leaving his hotel room; they'd Apparated over for the night just to get away from the stress of the City, maybe to help Rimmer pull Raven away from the machines if he couldn't manage it on his own... stuffy bastard.

This wasn't the street his hotel was on, and some of the pedestrians hovering outside of the casino didn't look exactly right. He didn't understand at first, but when he focused his tired eyes on them long enough, they seemed to correct themselves, abruptly clad in tourist-wear and fancy evening gowns by turns.

Was that Lupin in the distance?

Yes. Yes, of course it was. Likely having come to find him to yell at him again--well, to hell with that. He was going to give the wizard a piece of his own mind first.

Edgeworth stalked toward the robed figure, resisting the urge to yawn.

And Kiryu was fine with how ever close Alastair wanted to sit. He had no idea why, but it felt right and he wasn't going argue with that. There was too much other weirdness going on.

"We have to figure it out," he said with a nod. "I can't just leave my team. They're like my family..."

Bakura looked down slightly at that, petting Pelor a moment more before setting her down on the couch and getting up. "I'll go work on dinner while you try and figure it..."

LMAO SHUT UP IT IS THE BEST DEPRESSING AU

Waspinator was pushing his lungs to the limit, screeching almost continually on exhale and whimpering pitifully upon inhale. He couldn't sit through this he wouldn't sit through this, not again (again? when had it happened before?), and he just didn't--

The hand on his shoulder made him start, sucking in a breath and staring wide-eyed at the approaching being. They didn't look like...

Shockwave? Of course it was Shockwave. It couldn't be anyone else. The only other one around was Starscream and that was before (but somehow still feasible).

But more importantly Shockwave was touching him and this was bad and somehow ignoring the fact that being able to move his limbs right now didn't quite work, Waspinator clamped his hands over his mouth. He couldn't let the Decepticon know he was getting to him. Couldn't show weakness. That wasn't on the menu.

[definitely bad form for a kenpo artist, not like Sanji can talk. He stands straight, arms loose and legs braced, one foot forward to move into blocking position]

Alastair flinched a little as well, but shrugged it off. He ignored the kitty as it crawled across him looking for attention. "Well. Yuusei's probably still in the City, unless he got 'ported out without any of us knowing," he offered. "We could call him, see if he answers."

Obi-Wan nearly radiated contentment.

A small, enthusiastic ball of white fluff (http://www.samoyedpuppies.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/samoyed_puppies_1.jpg) trotted eagerly at his side, tethered to his wrist by a blue leash; in each of his hands was an enormous paper shopping bag. The heads of three curious chickens peeked out of one, and four peered out of the other, all of them surprisingly calm and unruffled. An aura of gentle happiness seemed to envelop man and animals alike, despite Obi-Wan's slightly unsteady gait.

The familiar face and presence seemed to come into focus all at once, and Obi-Wan grinned ear to ear as he set off towards his friend.

"Miles! So good to see you! How have you been?"

Kiryu was completely oblivious to the effect those words had.

"I sent him a a message on this thing," Kiryu said, showing the comm still clutched tight in one of his hands. "I think that's what it's for, right? He's here, I just...he has to be."

"Yeah, that's right." Well, that took care of one thing, assuming Yuusei was indeed still around and saw the post. He set his hand gently on Kiryu's knee. "It's okay, just take it easy. Maybe you don't remember anything about us right now, but we're here for you. We're like brothers. And maybe I'll page Saitou, get him to come back just in case."
