"Aw, thanks, honey." Slowly, she stood up again and headed for the counter, leaning against it casually while he paid for their food. She took the take-out bags from the cashier then. "I'll get it next time, promise."
She hoped there would be a next time, in spite of everything. They'd had some heavy conversation, and there was a lot of other baggage and crap to deal with, but there was at least something between them. Even if it didn't last very long, Bobbi was enjoying herself and his company. Everything else be damned.
She waited for him to get the door though, sending him a sly, sideways smile. "So, Max. Does this count as our first date then?"
