chicks love power

WHO: Nina Sayers | [livejournal.com profile] herturn and YOU
WHERE: Around the City! From her way to Gemma's London to Terry's apartment with many, many detours. Because she's bound to get lost in this state.
WHEN: Monday evening/night!
WARNINGS: IDK. Please don't hurt her.
SUMMARY: Gemma's power had an effect on Nina. Basically, she's high on power! So she'll just be acting more relaxed than evuh before. NOW IS THE PERFECT TIME TO MAKE NEW FRIENDS!
FORMAT: WHATEVER YOU PREFER.

Nina watched as the white dress faded away, giving place to her previous clothes again. She frowned with an bewildered smile, finding this transformation strangely amusing, hands sliding up and down her jacket's sleeve to get used to the new (old) fabric. She gave the massive illusion behind her one last look before she walked away with a grin and a soft chuckle, placing the back of her hand against her lips.

Five minutes later, she undid her hairdo. Long and brown hair draped on her shoulders and over her face as she practically glided down the street. She brushed it back with shut eyes. Nina wasn't quite sure where she was anymore, but as far as she was concerned, it didn't matter. She felt good, relaxed and at peace, like everything was right with the world and herself. Nothing in her questioned where she had just come from or what had happened there; nothing questioned the unnaturally good mood that had taken over.

For those sensitive to the power running through her veins, however, there was something clearly not quite right. All the magic and illusion that had been around her had also taken its effect, taken in by her own power without any outlet. Even a few, common passersby could notice a strange glow on her skin -- a visual manifestation of warm chills that appeared and faded like a wave of soft light.

Arthur is looking as sharply dressed as he usually does as he walks down the street, and he notices her before she notices him, but that's short lived. She's a tiny thing, small like Ariadne but frailer. She looks like she could break with just a tiny bit of pressure on her bones, like a bird.

Whose projection could this possibly be?

It's pure military habit that makes him stop and look her over. Arthur sees things that other people miss because he understands the details of things: that and the glow around her, something that occasionally happens in dreams.

But the totem doesn't lie.

Arthur pauses for long enough that he can be classified as staring.

Mid-evening, near a supermarket.

[identity profile] vivi-sorrow.livejournal.com 2011-03-30 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Vivi almost looked disappointed as he left the supermarket with his punnet of strawberries. The usual fruit and vegetable market he went to was closed by the time he got there, so he had to make do with supermarket strawberries. They didn't taste quite as nice as the grocery ones did for some reason, but he couldn't quite figure out why.

He sighed and started to make his way home when he saw a delicate woman walking down the street, apparently in some sort of trance. Normally he would've just noted her presence and continued home, but there was something about her that drew his attention...

He waited until she was close enough to talk to before opening the punnet.

"U-umm... would you like a strawberry?"

Not much of an opening line, but Vivi wasn't that good at thinking on his feet outside of a fight.

Curiosity, of course. Selina couldn't resist checking out the little transformed area of the City. She didn't mention it to anyone, of course. She didn't want witnesses.

She wasn't a fan of magic. But from everyone who'd mentioned this odd little change, it seemed harmless enough. And of course, curiosity.

The clothing shift left her in something barely tolerable, even for a girl used to running around in skintight leather. Still, she explored the little section of town and its strange zombie-like population for a good twenty minutes before leaving. It was a relief when her clothes melted back to their proper shape. She could handle corsets, but all the rest was too damn heavy.

She was making her way back into the normal part of town when she spotted the girl. A familiar face, someone she'd spoken to on the network. And an odd bit of a glow around her.

Jack is out and about, as he tends to be. Even with the Doctor jobless, he still found living in suburbia terribly boring, so he'd taken to wandering a bit, and found himself in a strange version of Victorian England. He'd taken to this with a surprising amount of ease -- you get used to weird things when you time travel. At any rate, as he headed out of the not!London, he caught sight of someone heading his way.

She was pretty enough, in a 'looked like she could break' sort of way -- and besides, he hadn't met her yet, nor seen her on the network. This was more than enough reason to introduce himself, and to make sure she was alright. She looked a bit ...off, to say the least. He slowed down and gave the girl a nod, grinning.

"Evening."

/SLAMS TYLER IN HERE

[identity profile] chipsfalling.livejournal.com 2011-03-30 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Tyler had come to see the show, so to speak. It was the kind of thing that would drive the Narrator up the wall, something so inexplicable and fucked up, and Tyler wanted to push at it, touch it, see it crawl over his hands. He wanted to carry memories of it back with him to smash against the Narrator's conciousness at three in the morning when he was trying (failing) to sleep.

Tyler Durden was a vindictive son of a bitch.

And lo, here was Nina. The voice on the communicator. The girl with blood on her clothes. The girl who shyed away from him like he was something dangerous (he is) and oh, isn't this lovely. ]

Don't you look happy.

He starts for a moment, and he puts his fingers casually in his pant pockets. "No, there's nothing," he tells her, because there isn't. "Sorry, I think your bone structure is remarkable."

Lie.

"I didn't mean to stare."

Vivi gave the woman a smile and offered the open punnet to her. "Take your pick. They should be nice," he said, looking up at her from under his hat.

Now that he was closer to her, he could feel... something about her. Something... magical. Not the same as his, but magical all the same. Maybe too much...

He shook his head, to clear the thought. "I'm Vivi."

She seemed to be doing better than when Selina had first talked to her. Still, she approached slowly, let herself be seen.

"Hey."

Tonks has spent most of the day exploring the city. It was true that she could have just apparated to any place that she wanted. However, she didn't know where those places might be and she didn't want to get splinched. There might not be anyone around to reattach a lost limb or toe.

Her feet are tired but so far she's done a pretty good job of getting the layout of the city. It's just a pity that she's mainly focused on the map and not really where she's going. Every so often she'd look up but then it was right back down at that map again.

It's a wonder that she hasn't caused a ten-car pile up yet.

It's almost instinct to pull a handkerchief out of an inner coat pocket when she says that - gentlemanly, manners that Arthur has from long-ago, before the military. This isn't a mark and she isn't a coworker, and there's something about her that's...he's not entirely sure.

"Here," he offers with a small smile. Prepared for anything. "If you'd like it."

[identity profile] fliesacomet260.livejournal.com 2011-03-31 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Tonks suddenly put the map down and stopped short of colliding with Nina. "Oh, I'm so sorry. I almost ran right over you." It was a good thing she had stopped. Upon glancing at the woman, Tonks wondered if she could handle her sort of clumsiness.

"At the moment I am - I was just on my way home from here," Vivi said, selecting a strawberry of his own to eat. She seemed like a nice woman; a lot of people were around here, which was good.

"Um... you look like you've had a good time..."

[identity profile] comesback.livejournal.com 2011-03-31 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
"You alright?" Jack grinned at the laugh and stepped forward, hands in his pockets. "The City's got some weird things going lately and I --" He paused a bit and shrugged. "I kinda specialize in weird things. Name's Jack Harkness," he continued, offering a hand.

"And who do I have the pleasure of meeting?"

Stein is leaning against a building on a random street corner, smoking a cigarette. It's after dark and it relaxes him. Really.

He's not paying a lot of attention to passersby, but it's hard to miss Nina and her glow. So he pushes off of the wall without putting his cigarette out and falls in step with her.

"Yo," he says mildly. Just to let her know he's not a mugger or something, as though that's all it takes.

[ This is new. ]

And why's that?
