so what I told you was true...
WHO: Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon
WHERE: Ye Olde Jedi Apartment
WHEN: backdated to Wednesday evening
WARNINGS: nnnnnnot really
SUMMARY: With the kid plot in full swing, Obi-Wan sees a chance to correct his biggest mistake. However, this requires him to tell a really big lie.
FORMAT: THIS ONE TIME I PLAYED A WRITING RHYTHM GAME CALLED PARA PARA PARAGRAPHS
He'd already rehearsed the lie, an eternity ago, in his little hovel on Tattooine. When there was so little else to do, no one to take care of but himself and nothing to look after but a lifetime's worth of regrets, he'd had to think about it a great deal--what would Luke need to hear when he was old enough? What could he say about Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader that wouldn't plant the seed of hate in his heart?
It was one thing to say it to a boy he loved but was forced to distance himself from, one thing to imagine telling his story to a child. It was entirely another to say it to the person he loved most.
But this was a very real chance to fix the errors of the past, and he knew he had to act on it--and he couldn't do that without the help of his partner.
His sons were in bed, finally asleep after about five chapters' worth of The Hobbit (it had to be said, Qui-Gon made an excellent Gandalf); this was the first chance he'd had to be alone with his former master all day.
Obi-Wan fidgeted, passing his comm from hand to hand, wondering how to open the conversation.
