you're a speck of dust, i'm a speck of dust

WHO: Baroona and whoever (OPEN)
WHERE: Fort Tryon Park
WHEN: Today
WARNINGS: non
SUMMARY: People point and laugh at how much of a hobo baroona is

Days passed with varied degrees of slowness in the park. Hectic stagnancy on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Peaceful stillness on Fridays and Mondays. In a way, it fit the park's theme–an oasis of time. It was why Baroona had chosen to live here.

He still missed the House. That was what he had come to call it. It seemed a fitting name, seeing as it was the second one he had ever lived in and the only one that mattered. He visited often; about once a week. But even then, it only took up a few hours at most.

So he found things to do in his park. He learned its schedule. Observed how, in the mornings, a parade of women would walk speedily through the park. How on Mondays and Wednesdays, groups of people would gather to practice strange poses. And then there were the Unscheduled. The people who slowly filtered in during the day to play games, do stretches, eat or just talk.

Today he was sitting on the stone wall that overlooked the water, watching as boats slowly made their way across his view. He was smoking, as per usual, which often attracted the attention of the local police officers patrolling. He would send them away with a smile, thankful that his stupid charming powers were at least good for something. They would get suspicious of him eventually, but not now, not today, and that was all that mattered.

He took a drag on his cigarette and watched a barge make its way across the water, delighting in the slowness.
