She watched him as many long seconds passed, seeming to take on an uncaring and unemotional stance. Her chin lifted up in an almost haughty manner as she conversed with herself in her mind.
He had tried to kill her. Her! After everything she was risking, after what she had done for him. She was offering to heal him, to set him back on his feet and let him go about his life. She wasn't even asking for anything in return - not even turning him in for the killer that he was.

She should just sit here and let him bleed. Better yet, put out a call to one of her newer friends, and allow them to pick him off themselves. It's what he deser--- no.
She closed her eyes tightly and shook off the deepening voice in her mind. That would be what her father would want her to do. She was better than that now. She was her own person, with her own decisions... she had to be better than that.

She stepped forward, delicately placing her hands on his head to relieve the pain there, and stumbling back to catch her breath. The pain was always so intense when she took it from him... there was no way she could ever leave someone like this. Ever.
