[ everything is repeating.
lil always said that it's what he does (he needs to stop thinking about her, but he can't) when this stuff happens. when things get hard and a violent fight like that goes past bad into the frankly horrific. she always said he just leaves.
like he avoided his wife when their relationship shattered, madison is avoiding danger.
it's not even difficult. he's just sitting at home, working, and only rarely hitting up the institute; it wouldn't be this easy if danger wasn't obviously maneuvering around him, too, and for that he's almost grateful. tonight, wires and conductors whirl around while he aimlessly manufactures without cessation or sleep, sets things in the corner; there's very little running in his head outside of mental blueprints and physics equations when he becomes like this, when he turns himself into a machine.
but it's a lot harder to abandon and ignore someone as a machine (one made of flesh, he bitterly reminds himself, but still he has to be one because he doesn't feel like a person anymore) when they're not a person but another mechanical being. ]
