It was unnerving, but that was probably the point. Maybe he was old fashioned, but Nick preferred tech to be kept to a minimum in a non-professional setting. SHIELD was decked out with all the latest accouterments, but his own quarters were surprisingly sparse. He simply didn't see the point of motion sensors when, honestly, a light switch did the same damn thing and was more reliable anyway. Besides, he didn't always want the lights on even when he was moving. Sometimes it's nice to just think in the dark. He had to wonder what Stark did then.
"Sounds like a plan." Nick considered further comment on Tony's suggestion that he'd wasted time but decided it wasn't worth it. Time in which you'd learned anything, even the smallest piece of information wasn't wasted. There was no telling what would be important later, and there was no telling what he might have discovered that Stark might have missed. Besides, if he hadn't started out alone, he probably wouldn't have noticed his powers anyway. "Where do you need me?"
