[ Danger didn't need a complicated understanding of human behavior to notice that Cross had been drinking more than usual lately. She'd been frequently in and out, tactfully avoiding Lillian and Madison's home by migrating between the Carrier and Cross's new apartment while she sorted herself out mentally in the aftermath of her failure to prevent Harvey Dent's suicide. It was oddly therapeutic to be around the functional dysfunction of Cross Marian's day-to-day life-- and an effective mechanism, honestly, for making sure he kept his promise to her concerning Lillian.
She hadn't intended to sympathize with him, at first. But she did. She does. And strangely, they're starting to behave almost like friends.
Regardless, the man clearly needs an intervention. She looks for him-- seeks him out with purpose. And when she finally finds him, she's the looming figure of disapproval, lingering nearby with her arms folded loosely over her chest for a moment before speaking, plainly: ]
Your alcoholic intake has increased exponentially. [ A pause. ] Is this your method of mourning?
