he meets the mayor's eyes. he has his own intensity, maybe derived from all that pent up frustration, or maybe from the dark power laying quietly dormant inside him. maybe it was just the seriousness of their situation. ]

She's the Spirit of the Century. She's always calling herself the "protector of humanity." Maybe she thinks she's protecting them somehow -- or protecting us. I don't know. What I do know? Is that she's a reality alterer with a mission and not a whole lot she's afraid of.
