[ it's a lucky thing his control's gotten so much better. the telepathy never really turns off (the fears of others are always whispering, appealing to his perpetual hunger, on the edges of his perception, clawing at the back of is consciousness) but it's not focused now, not directed at anyone special. he can taste it though, knows there's fears in this room he could dig for. but he's not digging, at least not now. he doesn't think he needs that kind of leverage -- yet.
but something about mitch's question seems to rub terry the wrong way. he doesn't like the phrasing maybe, or where it's going. he feels like a tattletale. he feels like they're talking about someone else -- not his friend. not jenny. jenny whose habits he knows. he knows the things she likes, what makes her laugh. what does he know about her? a lot. maybe more than anyone except her own father.
he hates this. his voice comes out spiteful. ]
