She lets the dogs go first, barking and giving guttural growls. But once it becomes obvious that they aren't enough, the birds move in. They aren't large and they aren't particularly effective for combat, but there are a lot of them, and they make for distractions. Seeing him hurt her familiars, however, hurts her in turn. Why is he destroying her pets? Why is he doing any of this at all? All she'd wanted was to be left alone, to be able to keep her things close. And now he's taking them away.
