all I ever wanted was the world
WHO: FELICIA HARDY AND MICHIKO MALANDRO
WHERE: Around the City.
WHEN: After dark.
WARNINGS: Not really.
SUMMARY: SISTERS ARE DOIN IT FOR THEMSELVES.
FORMAT: Quick!
[ New York never really sleeps, and neither does the City. Even after dark the lights are still bright, traffic still bustling and the sidewalks still packed, but everyone is more rushed, everything more exciting even if the stores are closing. Felicia navigates through the crowds, dressed in a long black trench and Prada sunglasses. The coat is dispensable, the sunglasses not.
She goes toward Fifth avenue, but she didn't tell Michiko to meet her on the corner; she told her to meet her on the roof of Cartier. ]

Anyway at whatever point she sees Felicia, whether she's a silvery-blonde head of hair in the crowd or actually on the roof, she'll let the camouflage fall; until that moment, she's got nothing to do but wait.]

Waiting long?

[She actually smiles a little -- not enough to show teeth.]
And stay in this shitty place the whole time? Ten minutes, maybe. [A BEAT] So.

[ She shrugs her coat off; she's wearing her costume beneath it. ]

[Michiko watches this for a moment before deigning to relieve herself of her own huge winter coat and scarf. Unsurprisingly, she looks way less suave than Felicia underneath; not because her clothes aren't nice or anything, but because let's face it, a superhero catsuit is just plain cooler than a bunch of black shit + an equally black hooded sweatshirt.]
No masks, huh. [To her credit, this is a genuine question, and she has bitten back the urge to give into her sadly-natural girlhate and go LOOK THE MAN ON TV SAID THERE WAS A 30% CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION SHUT UP]

I like them subtle. Nothing that would mess up my hair.
You ever done this before?

[AUDIBLE AIRQUOTES] This? Sure, but not like this. Aa, you know... [she gesticulates, her fingers splayed wide] ... bare-handed.
[Usually there's a semi-automatic involved!!]
Didn't exactly have any freakshow powers back then either, so. But there's something to it, right? Like you said... subtle.

[ She smirks widely, bouncing across the roof and looking for the roof panel she usually gets in by. ]
I was never one for a big flashy heist. Draws the cops way too quickly.

Brought my own. [She says it with a small grin, as though to go SEE I'M NOT THAT MUCH OF A RANK AMATEUR!!, but stops in the moment of slipping the left on.] Don't tell me it's gotta be some special type or it'll leave crap everywhere.

Just as long as it doesn't leave fingerprints behind. They can know we were here just as long as it happens in the morning.
[ She peers down the hole. ]
How are you with jumping?

[She thinks back briefly to shimmying down an elevator shaft with Hatchin, Atsuko shooting after her and screaming.]
Should be just fine. [Michiko does the same, frowning down into the DEPTTTHHHHHHHS of the building.] Ah -- but ladies first.

[ It's wrapped around her waist; she pats it, before kneeling to snake her legs through the shaft. ]

[It’s more a statement made in good humor than an actual question. Still, Michiko’s gaze drops to said tether, eyebrows pulling down briefly in consideration before she speaks again.]
Nah, I’m good. [She’s still watching Felicia intently, but now it’s with an almost studious interest. This is a serious and untested venture for her, even if the pieces ring familiar; before she puts the jigsaw back together she has to at least see what it looks like on the box, and she'll probably learn something new by example. Whatever jogs her memory of the fact that manners exist is probably a Christmas miracle, but either way there's a delay before she tacks on a lower:] ... Thanks, though.

No problem. That's what the equipment's for.
[ She latches the tether to her belt and disappears down the grate; after a minute or so she pops her head back up. ]
I'm going to take care of the security system. Should only be a second.
