the things that you wanted
WHO: Archer and Rick Bradbury (and bonus guest star Mordin Solus)
WHERE: En route to and in Southwest Phoenicia
WHEN: Over the days following Valentine's Day.
WARNINGS: Come on. It's these two.
SUMMARY: Sneaking into a country run by a teenage dictator. What could possibly go wrong?
FORMAT: Quick.
[ The trip over is uneventful enough, Jane's contacts as good as their word. With the transport all paid up (and Bradbury stays silent on where exactly he'd found the funds for that particular enterprise) it's a matter of discreetly boarding a plane in the wee hours of the morning, the flight taking them over the ocean. Bradbury doesn't want to sleep, but he forces himself to anyway. There's going to be little enough of that soon enough.
They don't touch down in Southwest Phoenicia itself. Not even criminal elements want to risk flying over a country run by a teenage ImPort who can shoot them out of the sky, apparently. Instead, they land as close as they can, but it's still going to take them across a stretch of desert. They land on a strip of dust-blasted tarmac, the heat of the sun already beating down on them, having arrived just past midday.
Bradbury's switched out his clothes for something more surreptitious, though he's still far too tall to pass for a native, so he slouches his shoulders, doing his best to minimize his bulk. As disguises go, these clothes aren't the most subtle. Ragged, mismatched military fatigues to better fit in with the mercenary role they're meant to play, hats jammed over their heads to help obscure their more distinctive features. It's going to have to be enough.
Bradbury glances out at the expanse of the desert with a withering stare. God, he can already imagine the sand getting everywhere. ]
You ready to do this? [ He nods at Archer, wry, then sobers quickly. ]
In and out, as quick as we can. We've got five days to figure out where she is and take her down. [ He doesn't have any illusion theyre heroes. He's just here to do his goddamn job. ]
