Think of it this way. If you only take art classes, it won't necessarily be for any kind of instruction to revise your technique, but that it gives you an opportunity to socialize with other developing artists, and perhaps to discuss each others' work. I think one's peers can often teach you a lot more about art than sometimes the teacher will.
