As you enter through the doors of the Danger Room, the sound of cicadas chirping clues you into your arrival to a tropical paradise. Red and orange lights show a room transformed, vines all along the walls and trees that seem to reach the beyond the ceiling. There's no doubt now, you're deep in the heart of the jungle. You can almost feel the heat of a distant volcano, the humidity wafting in from a river just outside, but that's only your imagination. Luckily, someone had the foresight to bring an exterminator into this jungle beforehand, as there isn't a bug in sight.

Fierce papier mache dinosaurs look down on your throughout the room, some perhaps planning their next meal, others regarding the intruders to their home with something not unlike fear. From the stage, the gleaming jaws of a downed Tyrannosaurus look on at the partiers, hungry even in its taxidermied stated.

But there's one ornament that stands above them all: the mirrored surface of what appears to be a pterodactyl man, reflecting the lights all across the room in ways most disco balls only wish they could.

[ A-ha. Kurt glances into the crowd after Gilbert, a grin splitting his face. ] Ooh. A lady-friend, is it?

[ But, oh! And he looks nearly beside himself with mirth. ] Say, you aren't avoiding her, are you?

[invoking]

No, no. [ He waves a hand side to side to emphasize. ] I'm just... I'm not much of a party person.

[ He feels things have been awkward after another night of having to care for her while she was drunk. To top it off, she had been miserable. He may not be comfortable here, but he doesn't want to ruin what he hopes will be a good night for her. ]

[themisfit]

I'm quite shocked. [ But, wow, really Kurt. Stop picking on poor Gilbert. His stupid grin fades into something a little softer, less overtly mocking. ] As one of the technical hosts of this party, I hope you'll let me know if there's anything I can do to help you feel more comfortable.

[invoking]

You don't need to trouble yourself, Mr. Kurt...

[themisfit]

Nonsense. I'd be happy to help. I hate to see friends uncomfortable. [ Congratulations, they've graduated from acquaintanceship? ]

And the "mister" is not necessary. Just "Kurt" is fine.

[invoking]

Friends? [ You lost him there, Kurt! Gil is always surprised when someone calls him a friend.

Always. ]

[themisfit]

Is that not okay? I assumed us friendly enough.

[ Wow, Gil. Everything seems to baffle you so! ]

[invoking]

Ah, yes! [ He tries to compose himself. ] If that is what you want... [ How do I friendship. ]

[themisfit]

Good Lord, man! [ He gets another short laugh in, although... This tows the line between amusing and a little frustrating. He's sure he's rarely met a person so unsure about such little things. ] Your opinion counts in the matter, as well, you realize. If I have overstepped my boundaries, I apologize.

[invoking]

No, no you haven't! [ Oh no, how does he correct the situation? ] I'm fine with it, really!

It was just surprising is all...

[themisfit]

You are very easily surprised. [ Which isn't critical, really. He's trying to stay amused in tone. ] Do not worry so much. You will age badly.

[invoking]

[ He can't help but make a face in response to that. ]

I'm not worrying! Anyone would be surprised to make friends so fast with someone. [ He thinks. ]

[themisfit]

With me? Nein, not at all! I am so personable and handsome, after all. Who would not want to be fast friends with me?

[ See? He's got jokes. ]

[invoking]

[ More like who really wants to be friends with Gil, who is a ball of insecurity and tension? :( ]

If you say so.

[themisfit]

You doubt it, then? Ach.

[ He'll have to keep trying, then, to get Gilbert to enjoy himself just a little bit. Just a smidge. ]

Have you tried the food? Hank's made some of it. He's really fantastic at baked goods.

[invoking]

[ He lifts a hand and waves it to politely decline. ]

I'm not hungry, but thank you.

[ Prom apparently means alcohol gets snuck in. He is wary of the punch bowl especially. ]

I'm surprised the school opened up the party to non-students. [ See? Attempts at small talk! ]

[themisfit]

[ That's something! ]

Well, we are not so large an institution that we cannot accommodate a little extra, and we like to have an event for the community at large. It seems to be popular, so... Here we are again.

[invoking]

It's generous of the school to do that. [ Given how some imPorts are nothing but trouble... ]

[themisfit]

So take advantage of our generosity a little, huh? [ By which he means, geez, Gil, have a little fun.

But, for the sake of conversation... And because it could be fun. ] So, this date of yours... Is this a wooing situation?

No! I'm not courting her! She was the one who wanted to come!

[themisfit]

[ Wow, look! It's another laugh at poor Gilbert's expense. ] Relax, relax! Good Heavens, man, you will die before your time.

[ Beat. Smirk. ] So it's that she's the wooer, then?

[invoking]

She's not -- [ He swallows hard. It's not the reason she wanted to come. If it is, it's flown past his head up until now.

It makes him more nervous to think she's brought him along out of romantic interest in him. ]

It's not that.

[themisfit]

Ah. I apologize, then. [ And he pauses in his jovial poking-fun to look genuinely sorry, sympathetic to the plight of awkward Gilbert. ] I am only teasing, you know.

[invoking]

Is this how you host a party? [ A host doesn't bully!! Then again his whole life so far has been spent either traumatized or being bullied. ]
