To be honest, he wasn't quite sure what they were looking for; either Saitou himself, or corroborating evidence of the erstwhile Lieutenant's planned subordination, or any pieces of paper saying "Dear Journal, today I murdered Cavil." No such incriminating documents appeared to be present, at any rate.
