Potential applications.
WHO: The Red Queen
tooksteps
WHERE: Her MAC apartment and street-level
WHEN: Thursday morning. Two hours, fourteen minutes and twenty-three seconds BEFORE this post.
WARNINGS: None
SUMMARY: There as zombies all over the city and the Red Queen needs to watch them dammit. She needs to figure out how to kill them. This leads to a surprising development.
FORMAT: Solo-log
Perturbeddistraughtunsettledirritatedannoyedbothereddisturbedconcernedworriedanxiousupset.
Word after word ran through her mind as the Red Queen began to take in the news reports and camera feeds from around the city. Humans never learned. A soon as the they discovered the contagion would create beings such as these, all those infected should have been destroyed. Killed. Bodies locked away or burned. It was a weakness, a desire to protect even when protection potentially meant the lives of others.
It was foolishstupidfollyunreliabledangerous//endprocess
She shut down that line of reasoning and turned back to the window, there was a struggle happening on the street below, but there were no public cameras available for her to watch through and the MAC system was too-well protected for her to hack. Her face turned to a frown. She wanted to see, needed to see what was going on. With more data, she could make a determination on her next course of action because this level of violence and contagion was unacceptablewrongdangerousavoidableirresponsiblereparable//endprocess
Her fists balled, and she winced at the pain from her still-healing hand. There had to be something, some system somewhere that had a view of the street below, it was imperative that she gather more data. Closing her eyes, she focused all her will on the technology below looking for something, anyth-
She blinked. She was outside. She blinked again, and she wasn't.
System check initiated...
scanning... scanning... scanning... scanning... scanning... scanning... scanning... scanning... scanning...
no errors found
Closing her eyes, she focused again and felt something... spasm. Like her muscles sometimes did as she was getting used to having them, and when she opened her eyes, she was outside again. It didn't make sense, she had no register of physical movement and she began another system check, completely unaware of the zombie that had begun to lumber in her direction. It was on top of her, and reaching for her as the scan completed and she made a frightened noise, trying to step back as the arms reached out... and grabbed nothing.
Startled, she made another noise and suddenly found herself back in her apartment weaving on her feet. The creature had tried to touch her... and gone right through her.
Contemplating that new data, she continued to observe as best she could from her window, the struggle finally ending in disaster for the poor uninfected person in the street below. Making a decision, she quickly sent a command to her internal processors.
Repeat process time stamp 07:12:42-07:12:45...
She was back outside.
Identify location...

She looked up at her apartment window, unable to see through the glare, but somehow aware that her body was still there. More zombies came forward, arms grasping for her, and this time, she forced herself to stand still.
They couldn't touch her.
She walked exactly five feet, seven inches away form her location to stand on the curb.
They followed.
She repeated the process again, this time moving back to where she'd been.
They followed again.
With what could only be described as a predatory grin she reversed the process and returned to her body. Instantly, she was aware of a dull ache in her head, but she pushed it aside. Pain could be medicated, but this ability needed to be studied. This ability had many potential applications. This ability could be essential to her plans.
Record process time stamp 07:12:42-07:12:45 as "projection"...
Process saved
She turned back down to look at the street and began to test.
Many potential applications indeed.
