Turrets swivel in his direction, but with all the lines of fire converging there's no way he could hope to avoid being hit. He does what he can though, banking and turning. Up ahead he can see the tracers converging on him, and he makes another effort to avoid them, but all his skills cannot prevent the bullets that slam into the small craft.

Even after the successful hits with the missiles and the ship's own weaponry, the Shadow had remained quiet. Now, as he works to defy the decree for his death, he lets rip a wild, taunting laugh.
