Masks of all counterfeits paid tribute to the color spectrum that soon poured out into the confetti-strewn streets that morning. The flood of spectacle drowned away any groans of the mundane, and once ten o'clock stuck then did intrigue ascend to the hazy plateau of status quo. Bodies moved like whispers against each other, some seeking friends, while others hoped to fool foes. The air sung with sticky excitement: mischief was welcomed here, as long as you did it honestly. As long as you wore your face over your mask.

[Peter is never one to be formal when he has the option otherwise; though he's dressed up from his usual jeans and a t-shirt, his outfit isn't exactly up to the standards of some of the other party-goers, especially not with his sleeves rolled up and not-quite-matching blazer thrown over his shoulder.

You won't catch him dancing in the streets, either, but people-watching suits him just fine, especially when there's music to clap to and food to scarf.]

[As Charlie is known to do, she is just suddenly standing next to Peter, in a simple knee-length blue dress (gowns were weird) and a gold-trimmed black mask. She wasn't trying to hide her rather identifying bright red hair, so she assumed he'd recognize her as she leaned over slightly to peer at him.]

[It's either well-honed superhero instincts or the weariness of long habituation that keeps Peter from jumping out of his skin.] Eh, a party indoors is a party indoors. This, though, you don't see so much in the City.

People are really welcoming here. Sure, President Pisani's setting a good example, but one politician can't sway an entire country that easily unless they're already heading in that direction. I'm a New York City boy born and bred, but this... [He gestures around.] Gotta say it's refreshing.
