i was on my way to work when i realized i'm wasted

WHO: A WHOLE BUNCH OF PEOPLE
WHERE: Here, there, everywhere.
WHEN: Anytime from 6:00 PM to the wee hours of the morning; feel free to tag in with a specific time in your subject header.
SUMMARY: Chronos and Vector are failures and half the City goes apeshit!

It's been a lovely, warm, sunny day in the City, winding into a nice warm afternoon that definitely doesn't feel like the first day of Fall. As the sun gets lower and lower in the sky, however, something goes wrong. It's a very discreet malfunction, and even people in the general area probably won't notice it; what they will notice, however, are the temporal shockwaves emanating from the malfunctioning device.

Not to mention the eventual effects of those shockwaves. Is that man standing in the middle of the crosswalk with a lampshade on his head? Where did he even find a lampshade?

"If you die, so help me I'll get Doc Magnus to summon you up so I can spend the rest of my life yelling at you. So don't even think about it, mister."

If the last actual conversation she had with Reilly turned out to have ended with her telling him to leave...May shook her head sharply. It wasn't going to happen. He was just being his normal, dramatic self. If even his drama usually involved hiding any weakness instead of this.

They were almost there. Just had to keep him talking.

"What are you talking about? How is that even possible?"

[identity profile] bedeviledspider.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
"Magus? You really are mad at me," Reilly sounded bemused, if exhausted, which had to be better than fatalistic.

He honestly had no idea where they were going by now. Everything was kind of starting to blur together. It was only May's voice keeping him together, so if he had to keep needling her to hear it, he would.

"I'm talking about clone degeneration, stupid. Don't tell me you weren't wondering why Kaine had all those scars on his face."
secondhandwebs: (Spidey sense ahoy)

"Gee, why would a hardened mercenary have any kind of scar tissue? You're right, that one kept me up nights."

She could see the place, but from the feel of it Reilly wasn't noticing much of anything at the moment.

"You said it happened before and it stopped? Why the heck start back up now?"

[[OOC: sooo...for the clinic, want to rope someone in or handwave NPC?]]

[identity profile] bedeviledspider.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't know," he admitted, unable to keep the twinge of fear out of his voice. "I thought I was cured... sort of. This doesn't make sense. Not that it made a lot of sense the first time."

Then he was quiet for a while. Not sure what to say or really having the strength to say it.

"I'm glad you're here," he whispered.

secondhandwebs: (mourning)

[personal profile] secondhandwebs 2010-09-26 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
May landed on the roof of the clinic as gently as she could, but considering the rush, that wasn't saying too much.

"You're gonna be fine. I mean, we're probably the same radioactive blood type and everything, right?"

May hoped she sounded a lot more reassuring and less scared than she felt as she took them down, not bothering with any waiting and taking him directly to the back.

[[ooc: handwave sounds good to me! I mean, technically there's not anything actually wrong with him anyway, right?]]

[identity profile] bedeviledspider.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
Reilly looked back her, worried, although his dazed expression probably wasn't helping much. He hadn't meant to frighten her. "Y- Yeah, I'm sure that's true. But if we end doing a transfusion, and you sprout horns afterwards, let me know."

elle i am so sorry

[As Shiva continues to try to control her screaming and fails completely, something else also goes out of control--her powers.

Her soundtrack powers.

Laboriously, she pulls herself back into a sick approximation of a fighting stance, just as the soft music that's already been playing amps up to eleven and the dulcet tones of YOUUHOOHOOHOHOOHOOOOOOO YA SEX IS ON FIYAAAAHHHHHHHH (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RF0HhrwIwp0) start blasting down the street, so loud that even Shiva can hear it.]

What--

[To her credit, she looks exactly as confused as everyone else.]

"Oh, you'll hear about it. You have any idea how long this hair takes in the morning as it is?"

Bad humor delivered badly, but he was guilty of the same. How the heck had she missed this exactly? Even Normie had spotted the resemblance, she'd just been too busy blocking it out because she'd called the guy cute-

Oh, god. She'd called her cousin cute.

The sudden appearance of the medical staff was enough to let her gloss over that particular thought as she laid him out on the waiting bed.

Rorschach watched the animal for a moment, frowning a little behind his mask at the cat's behavior and display of claws and teeth. With a low "Hrrm." he turned around and walked in the general direction of the kitchen, shrugging off his coat along the way and dropping it over the back of one of the chairs that used to stand around the kitchen table but for some unknown reason had been moved into the living room. Most likely to serve as a general collecting point for the local newspapaer, as the little stack already piling on it may indicate.

Fedora and hat got dropped on a small table on the way to the kitchen, along with the dirty scarf that once may have been white. There was too much room in this apartment. Way too much to be wasted on a single person. But it was a place to stay, and even though Rorschach suspected it to be bugged up to the very last corner, he had decided to stay.

For now.

Empty cans dominated the kitchen counter along with stray parts of used, yet unwashed dishes. Unbothered by this, Rorschach picked up an open box of cereal, not bothering to bring along a bowl or even milk, and went back to the living room, peeling off his mask, his face with trained ease before letting the latex vanish onto one of his pockets. The man remained at the other end of the room to watch the animal on his couch, slowly chewing his way through his box of sweet cereal, waiting. Waiting for the cat to calm down. Fall asleep. Or at least stop acting like it was set on drugs not meant to be used on a mere cat.

[if she's as bewildered about the kings of leon as he is and back on her feet, that...was pretty much evidence that she wasn't utterly beat up by a gust of air. which was...good? Zel wasn't so sure.

in any case, weirder things had happened downtown in all that time he'd been there (granted, 2020 things are a lot more angsty), so he only hesitates the moment she does, but not a second more.]

Freeze Arrow! [WOW I WONDER WHAT KIND OF MAGIC THIS IS.

That was good news, and it showed on Saitou's face a moment with a brief smile. Knowing Kiryu was able to breathe was always a good thing. "At least you have someone here to tell you those things." Because when stuck as a wolf with no Hiruma to help out, well, that had not been fun.

Kiryu smiled back, which probably looked a little off because of how nice it was. There was a bit of bitterness in there, but not nearly as much as usual

"He's been a good friend. I don't know why I would forget him..." He tilted his head to the side a bit, eyeing Saitou for a moment. "You look really familiar. Are you from Satellite or Domino too?"

[identity profile] punmanarmy.livejournal.com 2010-09-28 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
The speed at which his face broke into a relieved smile would probably have set some records, were anyone still keeping hold of their temporal wits around to witness it.

"Don't freak me out like that," he scolded without any real anger, burrowing his face into Waspinator's shoulder. "We don't got the money to send me to the ER for a heart attack."

He was joking, but it was also a genuine worry - not that he would have palpitations because of Waspinator, but just either of them not being okay, and then what would they do? Mere colds were bad enough with how little nutrition they scraped up on a diet of the cheapest of the cheap crap lining the department store aisles.

[identity profile] chewtoyoffate.livejournal.com 2010-09-29 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
A frown, and Waspinator tilted his head to the side. Freak out? he mouthed. Why? What had been going on? He must have only nodded off for a second, what could have happened?

He sighed, leaning harder against the blond. It'd be fine, whatever it was. They'd dealt with enough so far, they could manage whatever else came their way, right?

You worry too much. He mouthed, regardless of whether Metabee could see.

[identity profile] punmanarmy.livejournal.com 2010-10-01 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Luckily for Waspinator, this Metabee knew not to expect a verbal answer. Even comfortably wedged into the other, he was peering up intently at him. This was how conversations worked, for them.

"What? I do not!" Metabee pouted at him, pushing at his shoulder gently. "I thought I was the wild and reckless one here. You can be the worry guy, how about that? Pfff. Worry. I don't know the meaning of the word."

It was surprisingly warm in their room today, he thought idly, resettling himself with a yawn. Now that Waspinator seemed like he was doing okay, Metabee's fear subsided as quickly as ever. He so far only woke up once during the night, and it was a good thing, or the both of them would be sleep deprived by now.

"Go back to sleep, wouldja?" he mumbled to him. "Everything's okay." And it was, because they were together, and together, they always managed.
