C&C HOLIDAY JAMJAR ICE HOTEL HELL: PARTY

WHO: AHAHAHAHA. Just... just tag yourselves in.
WHERE: The Gorsewick Hotel
WHEN: December 19th. 5PM-7PM for setup, 7PM onward for dinner.
WARNINGS: Let's just cover for your basics unless something more specific comes up.
SUMMARY: Miles Edgeworth and Remus Lupin are hosting the second comm-wide holiday party and have rented out the dining hall in the Gorsewick for the night. Everyone comes in for food, warmth, and (relatively... hopefully...) civil company. Whether or not they can leave is another story.
FORMAT: IF IT FEELS GOOD, DO IT! Long prose, action brackets, rapidfire dialogue, present tense, past tense--whatever floats your narrative boat!

The Gorsewick is not all that large a hotel, although it would very much like to grow up to be one someday, a mere five stories tall and having only a small parking garage to its name. The owner is clearly an optimistic sort of fellow, building a place like this in the City despite the risk the existence of imPorts poses to it and the hits the tourism industry has taken from their antics; bigger places than this have been smashed to pieces by enormous grey lizards with bad cases of heartburn.

Sadly, it just isn't paying off. At a time when people should be on vacation, packing his rooms to the max, the Gorsewick is... really, really empty. The groups renting out the dining hall are pretty much the only things keeping it afloat this month.

Still, appearances must be upheld, and although it is mildly understaffed, it is currently no less well-cared for. The handful of people on duty that night are friendly and the place is clean as a whistle--no bugs, no rats, no dust, nothing like that. He may be running a sinking ship, but the owner is damned determined to keep it a tidy one on the way down.

Come on in.

Haruka had never really seen magic before, nor believed in its existence, but this little stunt definitely changes her mind. She watches with awe as those around her open their own crackers, surprised at just how many things had been stuffed inside.

With a slight laugh, Haruka examines the pirate hat she's been given and tentatively puts it on. Mamoru would make a face, but she thought it was amusing. And having something to smile about was definitely a nice change.

She's trying to figure out how the chocolate oranges work, for the moment. Haruka's not really familiar with how you pop them apart just yet.

Sanji couldn't help but comment as he passed by with a plate of tuna steaks. "My, they're making pirates young these days," he teased with a wink.

XD

Haruka pauses a moment, then looks up at where the voice had come from, giving Sanji a smile. "Guess so," she replies, playing along and eying the steaks with interest. She can't really say she's tried much food besides traditional Japanese before.

I HAD TO

Noticing the look, Sanji bowed and offered the serving plate. "Would you like one? Fresh yellowfin tuna caught off the coast this morning, prepared by yours truly."

obviously xD

[identity profile] precog-princess.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Um, sure!" she replies, looking back up a little impressed at Sanji. She's used to cooking most things herself, but it is nice once in a while to not have to. "Thanks, it looks really good," Haruka adds, wanting to be polite. She wasn't quite sure yet if he was an import like herself, though.

Sanji was all too happy to serve, and even if the girl was far too young for him, he could be charming and sweet all the same. After all, she'd grow up someday.

"Let me know if it meets your approval~," he added smartly.

[identity profile] precog-princess.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Haruka takes her hat off for the moment, not wanting it to fall while she ate. It smells as good as it looks, and Sanji will get an "oh wow" as a response. Her smile is definitely a little bigger than before. It was melting in her mouth and the seasonings were far better than anything she could conjure up. "It's really good," she speaks up a bit more this time, with her wide smile. She didn't want to keep Sanji for too long if he had to be working, though.

[personal profile] notadartboard 2010-12-20 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Excellent!" He beamed and swirled away from the table, ready to continue his rounds. "That's all a man can ask for, is a lady's smile."

Yeah, he was laying it on a little thick, but Sanji was in his element.

[identity profile] mrbleedsalot.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Isn't she too young for you?" Zoro interrupted from behind Haruka.

He was frustrated, partly by having to give up his swords and partly because the suit he was wearing was far more stuffy than he was used to. But Sanji had told him to dress nice, and of course, Zoro had taken that as a challenge to dress nicer than the cook.

Still, what little joy could be pulled from matching, if not surpassing, Sanji's ability in formal wear, was tainted by the loss of his precious swords. So, to cheer himself up, he'd tease Sanji. And drink large amounts of sake. So there he was, positioned behind Haruka and next to Sanji doing just that: drinking sake and being an ass.

[identity profile] precog-princess.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Haruka jumped a little in her seat from the voice behind her, but thankfully didn't spill her drink. That would have embarrassed her for life and she'd probably hide for the rest of the evening.

She turns a little in her chair to look up at Zoro, examining him a moment. He looked like a fighter, maybe someone like Mamoru. The thought both interests and disappoints her, as being away from Mamoru hurt worse every day, but... maybe someone with similar interests to him could fill the gap, even a little bit. She'd never really known Mamoru to drink a lot, though...

Sanji's mood instantly shifted, and he glared hard at Zoro. "Shut up, seaweed head, I can be kind and charming to anyone I want! Don't listen to him," he added for Haruka's sake. "He's just jealous."

[identity profile] mrbleedsalot.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Like hell I'm jealous of you--" He stopped, noticing the girl look up at him with some sort of interest. He looked away from Sanji and focused on her instead, meeting her gaze. He raised a brow and sipped his sake, but otherwise never blinked. Just stared back at Haruka intensely.

Finally, he spoke. "Something on my face?"

SORRY FOR THE LATE REPLY orz

[identity profile] precog-princess.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Do you fight?" she asked almost immediately, unable to help herself. Especially with how physically fit he seemed to be. Intense stares are something she's used to back home, though Mamoru definitely had an intimidating stare. This guy could probably make a face just as scary.

TAKE YOUR TIME BABE

[identity profile] mrbleedsalot.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
By this time, because Cap said so, Sanji was making his way to other patrons, leaving Zoro alone with a young girl. Which was totally not his type of thing. But hey, at least she didn't look like Kuina. His eyes flicked back to Haruka as he brought his cup up to his lips.

"Yeah. Why?"

[identity profile] precog-princess.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, he didn't appear dangerous; not to her, at least. Maybe someone that was a criminal. Although she couldn't really tell at the moment what exactly he fought for... too many things were fuzzy. She'd just have to get to know him the old-fashioned way.

"Sorry, I um, just had a feeling." That just sounded like an awkward reply. She couldn't really tell him why she was interested; at least not in one sitting.

[identity profile] mrbleedsalot.livejournal.com 2010-12-22 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
He's getting a weird feeling from her, though it's possible it's just his own discomfort. He's not used to this type of interaction. Not with a little girl. Or rather, not with a girl that seemed so harmless.

And the last time he had met one he ended up tied to a pole, awaiting execution.

Still, he doesn't really have the urge to walk away from her. He does however, feel like sitting. And there's a free seat right next to her. With a cracker thing on the plate. He sits down, sets his drink down, and inspects it.

[identity profile] precog-princess.livejournal.com 2010-12-22 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
She's still pretty harmless, for the most part. It's everyone else around her that seems to be dangerous. Especially back home.

But thinking on Mamoru every 5 seconds was not going to help her homesickness whatsoever.

"They burst open with presents, I think," Haruka explains, gesturing once to her pirate hat and the candy strewn across the table.

[identity profile] mrbleedsalot.livejournal.com 2010-12-22 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
He raises a brow, not at her, but at the cracker. As if all of that stuff could fit inside something so small. He pulls on both ends experimentally and the whole thing pops open, its contents exploding all over the table and Zoro himself. He's startled for a brief moment, then recovers, eying everything suspiciously until his gaze lands on the pirate hat. Then, a small smirk creeps onto his face. He reaches out for it and studies it, the smirk growing into a somewhat nostalgic grin.

Luffy would kill for a stupid hat like this. He laughs softly, to himself, and places it on his head, ignoring the fact that he feels ridiculous. Oddly enough, the hat kind of suits him, though it could just be that it matches the three earrings hanging off his left ear.

[identity profile] precog-princess.livejournal.com 2010-12-23 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Haruka's not sure why, but she beams a little when he puts the pirate hat on. After a moment of thinking on it, she puts hers back on, too. He didn't seem like an easy man to startle, either, but that had been funny to watch. She's pretty certain he wouldn't have appreciated her laughing at him, however.

[identity profile] mrbleedsalot.livejournal.com 2010-12-23 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Zoro's gaze flicks over to her and a smile tugs at his lips. He hides it by sipping at his sake, looking away from her and down at the prancing stag thing. Not the weirdest thing he's seen but still.

[identity profile] purmoncul.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
A hand reaches around from behind her holding a second wrapped orange. The hand ends up being attached to a young man with a big smile and merry grey eyes under...a clown wig, a ribboned bonnet, a paper crown and a fez.

"Like this!"

And Sirius demonstrates the knocking step of chocolate orange consumption.

[identity profile] precog-princess.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
Haruka stiffens a moment; she really needs to get better at people sneaking up on her. Mamoru would disapprove of her being caught offguard so many times.

But the boy looks nice, if a little ridiculous because of how many hats he was trying to keep on. Haruka has to stop from snickering at the bonnet/clown wig, especially.

She watches with interest as the chocolate orange pieces fall apart. That seemed like a pretty fun step, and she smiles a little at Sirius. "Thanks!" she replies his way, trying it out on her own orange and unwrapping it eagerly to see if it worked. Not a half-bad attempt, and she pops a slice into her mouth.
