WHERE: The Gorsewick Hotel
WHEN: December 19th. 5PM-7PM for setup, 7PM onward for dinner.
WARNINGS: Let's just cover for your basics unless something more specific comes up.
SUMMARY: Miles Edgeworth and Remus Lupin are hosting the second comm-wide holiday party and have rented out the dining hall in the Gorsewick for the night. Everyone comes in for food, warmth, and (relatively... hopefully...) civil company. Whether or not they can leave is another story.
FORMAT: IF IT FEELS GOOD, DO IT! Long prose, action brackets, rapidfire dialogue, present tense, past tense--whatever floats your narrative boat!

The Gorsewick is not all that large a hotel, although it would very much like to grow up to be one someday, a mere five stories tall and having only a small parking garage to its name. The owner is clearly an optimistic sort of fellow, building a place like this in the City despite the risk the existence of imPorts poses to it and the hits the tourism industry has taken from their antics; bigger places than this have been smashed to pieces by enormous grey lizards with bad cases of heartburn.

Sadly, it just isn't paying off. At a time when people should be on vacation, packing his rooms to the max, the Gorsewick is... really, really empty. The groups renting out the dining hall are pretty much the only things keeping it afloat this month.

Still, appearances must be upheld, and although it is mildly understaffed, it is currently no less well-cared for. The handful of people on duty that night are friendly and the place is clean as a whistle--no bugs, no rats, no dust, nothing like that. He may be running a sinking ship, but the owner is damned determined to keep it a tidy one on the way down.

He gets a glare in return. Why is he staring at her? Her eyes narrow -- her gaze is clearly telling him to back off.

His glare continues and this is really starting to sound like a glaring contest, but Zoro ups the ante by raising a brow. Clearly asking her what her problem was.

Oh no, he didn't. She narrows her eyes. Bugger off, Zoro.

Oh yes, he did. And not only that, but for some reason her behavior strikes him as funny and he begins to smirk a bit. Just to further aggravate you, Bellatrix.

Her eyes narrow some more. If looks could kill...

Anyway, if he continues in this vein, she's going to stalk over to him and demand to know why he's bothering her.

Welp. He does continue because he can, so she's welcome to stalk over to him and demand things of him. He'll just sit there and sip his sake, which is what he's currently doing.

Stalk over she does, looking as intimidating as possible. And that is a lot of intimidating, because it is Bellatrix Lestrange.

"Stop staring at me this instant."

Well, well, well. Zoro may not be intimidated by her, but he does like the show. He can practically feel power emanating from her. Which of course only gets him more excited because he's crazy like that. If only he had his swords, he'd challenge her to a fight right now. Instead, he grins up at her.

"Who said I was staring at you?"

"The evidence speaks for itself." And Bella wouldn't object to a fight. Except both of them would probably be expecting entirely different things.

He gives a bark of laughter and turns around to sit down in a chair. He leans back in it and continues to chuckle. Mostly at the thought of himsellf, a pirate, being put on trial. And the thought of how much evidence there actually is against him. Something about that just tickles his sense of humor.

"I wasn't staring." He says when he's finally calmed down.

"You were." He can try to out-stubborn her, but she can keep this up forever. She frowns when he starts chuckling and instinctively grips her wand. He is testing her already fragile grip on sanity.

"I was watching you. Not staring." He notes the tightening of her muscles as she grips something he can't quite see. He puts his guard up, but not so much that it's visible.

"Then why the bloody hell were you watching me?" Bellatrix is focused on his face and doesn't notice him putting up his guard. She will notice it soon enough, though.

"Getting to know my surroundings." He's not lying. By watching everyone here, their actions and reactions, he's been able to assess who's most likely a threat and who isn't. And this lady? Clearly she is. But at least she's an interesting one. One that's likely to put up a challenge. If only he had his swords.

"And what did you find out about your 'surroundings'?" While Bella has already dismissed him as a threat. She has a nasty habit of underestimating her opponents.

Well in this situation, that's probably for the best as Sanji would kill Zoro for 1)picking a fight during the party and 2) picking a fight with a woman. Not that Sanji's wishes really matter. But still. It's complicating a night of free booze.

"Some people hold potential." He meets her eyes.

Hmm. That gaze is...interesting. Bella likely won't start a fight here, mainly to honor her cousin's wishes. Family is important, after all. "Potential for what?"

He drains the last of his sake, placing the cup back down on the table as he leans back and closes his eyes. "An interesting fight."

"A duel with me would certainly be interesting." A pause as she gives him a closer look. He doesn't look like a wizard to her. "Though I don't think you can handle it."

He's not a wizard, but a swordsman. One who's been hit by 30,000 bolts of lightning and still managed to stand, let alone fight. If there was one thing Zoro was proud of, it was his own durability and while he may not live through a mafic attack, he certainly wouldn't die on the ground.

He smirks at Bellatrix's words, once again laughing softly. "I've managed to defeat everyone who's had that thought."

"There's a first time for everything." Bellatrix smirks. She always loves how confident people are before facing her, and how their annoying little smiles fall the moment she casts the Cruciatus Curse on them. Zoro will be writhing on the ground before he even gets a chance to touch her. She's already learned her lesson about letting enemies get too close with Tyler.

Zoro is blissfully unaware that Cruciatus Curse means instadeath and will therefore continue smirking. "We'll see."

Well, it's definitely not instadeath. Bella likes playing with her food before she eats it, after all. "Oh, you'll definitely see."
