C&C HOLIDAY JAMJAR ICE HOTEL HELL: PARTY

WHO: AHAHAHAHA. Just... just tag yourselves in.
WHERE: The Gorsewick Hotel
WHEN: December 19th. 5PM-7PM for setup, 7PM onward for dinner.
WARNINGS: Let's just cover for your basics unless something more specific comes up.
SUMMARY: Miles Edgeworth and Remus Lupin are hosting the second comm-wide holiday party and have rented out the dining hall in the Gorsewick for the night. Everyone comes in for food, warmth, and (relatively... hopefully...) civil company. Whether or not they can leave is another story.
FORMAT: IF IT FEELS GOOD, DO IT! Long prose, action brackets, rapidfire dialogue, present tense, past tense--whatever floats your narrative boat!

The Gorsewick is not all that large a hotel, although it would very much like to grow up to be one someday, a mere five stories tall and having only a small parking garage to its name. The owner is clearly an optimistic sort of fellow, building a place like this in the City despite the risk the existence of imPorts poses to it and the hits the tourism industry has taken from their antics; bigger places than this have been smashed to pieces by enormous grey lizards with bad cases of heartburn.

Sadly, it just isn't paying off. At a time when people should be on vacation, packing his rooms to the max, the Gorsewick is... really, really empty. The groups renting out the dining hall are pretty much the only things keeping it afloat this month.

Still, appearances must be upheld, and although it is mildly understaffed, it is currently no less well-cared for. The handful of people on duty that night are friendly and the place is clean as a whistle--no bugs, no rats, no dust, nothing like that. He may be running a sinking ship, but the owner is damned determined to keep it a tidy one on the way down.

Come on in.

Yuugi looked up at Bakura long enough to give him a small half-smile in return, then turned his attention back to the food. "Yeah, I guess," he answered quietly.

He'd been doing everything he could think of to NOT 'settle in' since his arrival, to be honest. Minus coming to this party, but he'd only done because he felt an obligation to the other Yuugi. He still didn't really want to be here.

Bakura's smile slowly faded to a concerned look. He wasn't so out of touch to miss that clear sign. "Still miss everyone from back home...?" he asked softly.

Yuugi was silent for a long moment, poking some kind of casserole with a spoon as he thought about the question. Finally, he just nodded, not sure if he could say anything without giving away just how much he missed his home and his friends.

Bakura put a soft hand on his friend's shoulder. "They'll all still be waiting right where you left them," he reminded gently. "It'll be all right."

That was one of the large differences between him and Yuugi. Yuugi had family back home, family and close friends. All Bakura had had had been Yuugi.

"Right where I left them..." Yuugi repeated to himself, feeling his stomach clench at the thought. He let go of the spoon without adding any of the casserole to his plate and seemed to decide that he was finished gathering food.

It was time to talk about something else now.

"So, I guess you know a lot of the people who are here tonight?"
shiromadoushi: (Embarrassed laugh)

Bakura almost grimaced. Aaah, why did he always say the wrong thing with Yuugi?

Oh, a topic switch! He loved topic switches away from awkward things that were going wrong!

"Aa-- un!" he smiled, rubbing the back of his neck. "Probably around half of everyone here!" He wasn't sure how accurate that was, but he had seen a lot of people he knew!

Topic switches away from depressing things were good, too, especially when Yuugi didn't really want this one person he felt somewhat comfortable around to think of him as 'that gloomy kid'. And Bakura hadn't asked to put up with his moods, anyway.

"Ehhh, really?" Yuugi glanced quickly around the room again, confirming what he already knew--there were a bunch of people here. He blinked. "How did you meet them all?"
shiromadoushi: (Yo!)

"Lots of ways, really! Some through friends, others we just started talking..." Others were more complicated, as with the case of Trowa and Quatre whom he had mostly gotten to know after Quatre got turned into a zombie. What an awkward way to get to know someone, really!
