C&C HOLIDAY JAMJAR ICE HOTEL HELL: PARTY

WHO: AHAHAHAHA. Just... just tag yourselves in.
WHERE: The Gorsewick Hotel
WHEN: December 19th. 5PM-7PM for setup, 7PM onward for dinner.
WARNINGS: Let's just cover for your basics unless something more specific comes up.
SUMMARY: Miles Edgeworth and Remus Lupin are hosting the second comm-wide holiday party and have rented out the dining hall in the Gorsewick for the night. Everyone comes in for food, warmth, and (relatively... hopefully...) civil company. Whether or not they can leave is another story.
FORMAT: IF IT FEELS GOOD, DO IT! Long prose, action brackets, rapidfire dialogue, present tense, past tense--whatever floats your narrative boat!



The Gorsewick is not all that large a hotel, although it would very much like to grow up to be one someday, a mere five stories tall and having only a small parking garage to its name. The owner is clearly an optimistic sort of fellow, building a place like this in the City despite the risk the existence of imPorts poses to it and the hits the tourism industry has taken from their antics; bigger places than this have been smashed to pieces by enormous grey lizards with bad cases of heartburn.

Sadly, it just isn't paying off. At a time when people should be on vacation, packing his rooms to the max, the Gorsewick is... really, really empty. The groups renting out the dining hall are pretty much the only things keeping it afloat this month.

Still, appearances must be upheld, and although it is mildly understaffed, it is currently no less well-cared for. The handful of people on duty that night are friendly and the place is clean as a whistle--no bugs, no rats, no dust, nothing like that. He may be running a sinking ship, but the owner is damned determined to keep it a tidy one on the way down.

"Un! Everybody says it before a meal," Bakura nodded. "Sometimes even before a snack."

"Wow, I always just start eating!" Calvin said. "What other stuff do you guys say?"

(as it should have been 'I am about to partake' for 'Itadakimasu' hello not paying attention @_@

"Aa-- Well.. there's 'Gochisosamadeshita' which we say after the meal that's like 'It was really good.'"

Calvin liked big special-sounding words, and he tried to say this one, trying to sound it out like a dinosaur's name. "Go-chee-so-sa-ma-de... wait, what was that again?"

"Gochisou sama deshita," Bakura repeated, adding in a few pauses to break it up for Calvin. "Here--" A moment later he'd pulled a pen out of his pocket (magic things, pockets. Almost always had what you wanted in them) and was writing it out on a napkin.

... only to start writing it in kana. Oops. Try that again. Now it's in English letters!

"There you go," he smiled, sliding the napkin over.

Calvin took the napkin and tried again. "Gochisou-sama-deshita. Okay, that's not so hard!" Now that he had it spelled out, he wouldn't have a problem saying it from now on. "Hey what are these weird scribbles next to it?" He pointed at the kana. "Was your pen not working?"

"Hiragana. I was spelling it out in Japanese at first," Bakura explained a little sheepishly. "Sort of a reflex."

"Oh." Calvin put a thoughtful hand to his mouth. "So it's like a code?"

[shiromadoushi]

"This isn't. You want to see the real code?"

Those familiar with Bakura's expressions might have recognized that smile....

"Yeah, show me!"

It has begun. Again.

[shiromadoushi]

"Say you wanted to say 'Meet me at midnight,'" Bakura began writing the phrase out with kanji. "This is how it would look."

No lies yet. The fun would come when Calvin inevitably asked him how to write something boastful.

"Uh huh..." Calvin was watching the words take shape with rapt attention. "How about 'Calvin is the greatest?'"

Bing-bon~

"Ore-sama wa dai baka," Bakura read as he wrote, grinning like an imp. It was almost what Calvin had asked...

"Great! I'm making this my signature on everything!"

At least most people who read Calvin's documents won't recognize it...

Bakura covered a small laugh. "It'll be a pretty long signature, you sure you're going to be able to get it all memorized like that?"

"Heck no, that would be too much work," Calvin said. "I'll get a stamp made."

[shiromadoushi]

"Then I'll be sure to write it out far more neatly for you later, once I find some real paper!"
