SUMMARY: Bakura and friends spend New Years in Tokyo.

It was a modern, American style hotel, the rooms Bakura had gotten for everyone high up on the 27th floor, giving them a good view of the city out below. The four rooms were in a cluster at the end of the hall, each with two queen sized beds facing a large picture window. Other than the beds, the rooms were small, but space in Tokyo was at a premium, so it was to be expected.

And besides. The point wasn't to stay in the room, but to go out and enjoy!

"Yeah, pretty damn serious," Alastair admitted. "Like...using the l-word around each other and everything." He scratched his nose in embarrassment; just because he and Kiryu had been under a strange influence when they confessed sweet things to each other didn't make it any less true. "I'm not gonna be a jerk and look around for other options when I've got him. No way."

Bakura smiled warmly, giving his brother a half hug. "I'm so glad. You both deserve it."

"Hey, hey. Look who's talkin'." Alastair deflected the mush off himself by turning it back on Bakura. "How's things with Quatre? Gotten anywhere with him yet?"

Bakura blushed, ducking his head with a shy smile. "We're talking it slowly," he protested. "I've never..." he blushed a bit deeper. First boyfriend and all.

"Well duh, I kinda figured that," Alastair laughed. "You've never had a boyfriend before, so I figured you hadn't. I mean, you're not like me." Meaning, of course, not into one-night-stands, but he didn't say that out loud in public. He might not have cared about offending people, but he still knew better. "Nah, it's cool, I was just wondering. Taking it slow is fine, it makes sense."

Bakura nodded, still smiling with that warm blush. "It's been really wonderful..."

Alastair laughed knowingly, having no idea he might actually look or act the same way around Kiryu. Nope, not him, never. "Maaaan, you've got it bad," he teased. "You are totally gone."

Bakura ducked his head, giving a small laugh, utterly embarrassed. "You really think so?" he asked sheepishly, still blushing.

[hackeralastair]

"Yeah. Totally." Alastair's smile faded a hair for a moment; he wanted to tell Bakura not to get his hopes up, not to get in too deep with this guy just in case, but he couldn't ruin his brother-at-heart's good feeling. It wouldn't be fair.

Bakura smiled warmly. "I like him..." he said softly. "I think I like him a lot."

"Good enough for me." Alastair's smile hid what else he knew. He had done his research, he knew what things Quatre was connected to, now. He'd be the first to step in between them if the new boyfriend ever put a toe out of line. But Bakura being happy right now depended on Alastair keeping his mouth shut. He smacked his brother on the back encouragingly. "See, you get stuck in this place long enough and you'll find somebody. I always knew it."

Bakura laughed, ducking his head again. "I should have believed you," he smiled. With his luck, that someone had wanted to be with him at all was still amazing.
