WHERE: Lily's apartment at the MAC
WHEN: Just after this post, and before James arrives at Lyra's party.
WARNINGS: Uh. Clinging and angst?
SUMMARY: James has arrived back in the City 5 years older and missing a wife and baby. He decides to go cling to his future wife and reassure himself that she's still alive.
FORMAT: WHATEVER, WE DO WHAT WE WANT. Starting off as quick, because I'm lazy.

[As soon as he'd taken some deep breaths and calmed down a bit, James apparated over to the MAC. It took quite a few pauses to get his bearings, but he found Lily's apartment eventually and knocked, then settled back and attempted to make himself look at least slightly presentable. He knew he had worried her with his re-entry, so he figured it was best to show her she had nothing to worry about, for now.]

[Lily was at the door almost instantly, her eyes scanning over every inch of James to confirm that he wasn't hurt. Once she found he was alright, she let her eyes rest on his face. He was definitely older, and the years had only caused him to grow more handsome]

H'lo James.

[He steps forward and pulls her into a shaky hug, smiling.]

You have no idea how good it is to see you, Lils.

[Lily hugged him back tightly, her concern coming back. She pulled away just enough to look up at him]

Are you alright?

[And of course she knew he wasn't alright, but she really couldn't think of anything else to say. He was brought in from mere minutes before his own death, and it would've been followed by her own. That would make anyone not okay.]

[He's not letting go for a while, sorry, Lily.]

I'll ...I will be. [But then he pulls her into another hug, just holding her close for a few moments.]

D'you want me to tell you what happens?

[Lily was more than content with burying her face in his chest, letting him hold her. But his question threw her off. Did she want to know? Part of her did. Part of her wanted to know every detail. But the rest of her didn't. She didn't want to know if James was tortured before he was killed. She didn't want to imagine him dead]

It can wait.

Alright. [He pauses again, because Lily-snuggles are all-important right now.]

Dunno if I could talk about it right now without punching something, anyway. [Another little hesitation.]

Harry's brilliant, though, I will tell you that.

[Lily smiled softly, remembering the Harry that she had met. He looked so much like his father, at that was the first moment she felt she could love James]

I know he is. He's our son. How could he not be?

True enough. [He grins and nuzzles Lily's hair a little.]

Sirius got him a little toy broom for his birthday. He's going to be an amazing flyer.

Just like his father.

[Lily decides that as much as she loves James snuggles, they should probably actually go into her apartment instead of standing half in the hallway. She takes his hand, pulling him through the door before closing it behind them]

But of course. [There's another grin, and he follows her into the apartment.] Er, and Sirius is Harry's godfather. I can't remember if you knew that or not.

He deserves the position.

[She nods in agreement to her own statement, a smile on her face]

'F course he does! [He grins back and flops somewhere. On a couch, probably, fidgeting a bit. He's still full of nervous energy.]

Er, so. I -- yeah.

Do you want something to eat?

[Because, really, food was always a good choice when you were dealing with an anxious man]

Ooh, yes, food! Food would be brilliant.

[Lily grins, rolling her eyes affectionately]

Thought so.

[She walks into the kitchen, trying to decide what to make. Mac and cheese was always an easy choice, but she was more in the mood for spaghetti. As such, she gets out a pan and fills it with water, putting it on the stove to boil]

[James follows her, if only due to the fact that he doesn't exactly want to let Lily out of his sight right now.]

Can I help?

You can get the spaghetti sauce out of the refrigerator and put it in a pan on the stove.

[Lily finds that helpful!James is kind of adorable]

Alright, that doesn't sound like I can burn anything. [And so he does!]

Rubbish in the kitchen, are you?

[Lily giggles at the thought of James burning anything he tries to cook. It certainly sounded like him]

Er, pretty much. I don't know how me'n Sirius survived with just us cooking.

Well if you two ever need some decent food, you're both more than welcome here.

[He grins over at her.] I'll keep it in mind.

[Lily gave him a smile before turning her attention to putting the pasta into the boiling water]

It shouldn't take too long. Ten minutes at the most.

Good, 'cause now that you mentioned food, I'm starving.

[She threw him a playful grin] Of course you are.
