SUMMARY: Lily invited a couple people over to celebrate her birthday. Drama ensues.
FORMAT: Whatever. Because I talk to Mandy so much I'm lazy, so I'm gonna start with quick.

[Lily placed a pile of films on her coffee table, patiently awaiting the arrival of her guests. She smiled as a knock sounded on her door, and went to answer it]

[Sanji had to finish the cake and feed his crewmates, first, so he's there a little later in the afternoon. The chocolate cake is in a pastry box and perfectly protected, frosted in a light whipped topping and dusted with chocolate shavings, with spun-sugar flowers - a couple lilies, but also roses and daffodils, unwittingly making the decorations red and gold]

[Lily smiled brightly at him]

Afternoon, Sanji.

Happy birthday, Miss Lily~. [as he presents the cake with a little bow] I hope I'm not too terribly late, but I had a couple of idiots to feed.

You're actually the first person here.

[She took the box with a smile, stepping back so he could walk into the apartment]

And I can't wait to see if your cooking is as good as you claim it is.

Oh, well then. [he'll just step inside and shed his coat and scarf. He's totally dressed like usual - suitcoat and tie, the whole package]

I would go straight into the kitchen and cut the cake, but I'm sure it would be proper to wait for the other guests first.

Probably. James and Sirius would never forgive me if we ate the cake before they even arrived.

[Lily took the cake into the kitchen and set it in the refrigerator before rejoining her guest in the living room]

I'm sure they wouldn't mind if we started the movies, though.

All right, then. Lady's choice~.

[he eases onto the couch looking all suave, although he leans forward after a second to look at the movie selection]

[Lily sank onto the couch beside him with a thoughtful look]

I was rather looking forward to the Mummy films I told you about.

Oh, yeah. [he picks up that one and looks over the cover] Adventures and fighting, eh? I can appreciate that. As long as it's not zombies - anything but zombies.

[She gave him a bit of a look]

Aren't mummies and zombies practically the same thing?

Uh.... [and she gets a blank look in return] ...I don't know. Are they?

Well, anyway. Let's throw it in and see if it's any good, hmm?

[Lily grabbed the DVD case- it had taken her ages to figure out what exactly it was and how to use it, but she'd gotten it eventually- and took it over to the TV, putting it into the DVD player and pressing play]

I'm pretty sure mummies are just Egyptian zombies, but I could be wrong. It happens every now and then.

I hadn't thought about it that way. Although we don't have 'Egypt' where I'm from, so that might be part of it.

[good for her, he still has trouble with technology he doesn't use often. The dvd player is one of them. Sanji just sits back with his arms draped on the back of the couch, ready to be entertained in good company - all the better if the other guys aren't there yet]

[Lily settled back onto the couch beside him]

Don't have Egypt? How strange. I can't imagine my world without Egypt in it. Especially since they were one of the first great civilizations.

No, it's a completely different world. We may not have Egypt, but you folks here don't have Alabasta and Skypeia and...well, any of the islands I've been to. They're very ancient themselves. [he gestures at the opening shots on the TV] In fact, Alabasta looks a lot like that...

It's amazing that the people here are all from different worlds and different time periods. It's really mind-boggling, you know?

[She looked up at him, wondering what his thoughts were on the matter]

Mm. [he smiles and nods] I like learning about different places - and exploring! I just wish I could take people back with me, sometimes, so they could see my world too.

That would be amazing. To see new worlds. I can't even imagine.

It is amazing, I'll admit that.

[yeah he's only half paying attention to the start of the movie now]

Even just being here is so different from what I'm used to. I can't imagine how strange it must have been for someone not even from this universe.

Oh, it took some getting used to. But the people we can meet are helpful and friendly enough.

[Lily nodded her agreement]

All the people I've met have been very kind.

[James will probably be showing up with Sirius, but let's give him his own thread too! Anyway, he'll be showing up with a couple films and a gift box in hand, and will be knocking politely.]

[Lily made her way over to the door, opening it with a smile]

H'lo, James.

[He grins back]

H'lo, Lils. Happy birthday.

Thank you. Please, come in.

[she stepped back to let him inside]

Sanji's already here. We've only just started "The Mummy".

Brilliant, I haven't missed much then. [He heads inside and places the box on the table, along with the dvds.]

[yep, Sanji's sitting on the couch looking rather comfortable and proud of himself. And now squinting because the last he remembered, there were those loud teenagers at Edgeworth's party...is this really the same guy?]

[James quirks an eyebrow and gives him a bemused look.]

Prob'ly the last time you saw me I was a bit younger, yeah?

I think so. [arching his curly eyebrow right back] Been away and back, hmm? Which one were you, again...?

James. Otherwise known as Prongs.

Ahh. Right. [slight wave] Sanji.

[also totally not mentioning he and Zoro tried to hunt you guys. Oops]

Pleased to, er, actually meet you.

[manly head-nod. Note, he's not really paying attention to the TV even though "The Mummy" is on - he and Lily were having a lovely chat]

[James glances at the TV with interest. What, he likes movies!] So what's this about, then?

Some place called Egypt.

[yep, that's all he knows]

Sort've figured, it's called 'The Mummy'.

Oi, I was just telling Miss Lily we don't have anyplace called 'Egypt' in my world. Cut me some slack.

You don't? That's a bit odd.

How is it odd? What if I said it was odd that your world didn't have the Grand Line in it?

Well, I s'pose that'd be odd to you, too.

[Lily looked back and forth between them as they talked before retaking her seat beside Sanji on the couch. She'd actually wanted to watch this movie.]

[o hai pretty girl you're way more interesting than the guy complaining about my odd world] ...is it time for cake yet, Miss Lily?

We have to wait for Sirius, Sanji. I promise we'll eat your cake eventually.
