Chapter 2.5: The Boy Tries to Find a Job. [Semi-Open]

WHO: Ari, Koto and various detectives (Set up a subthread saying where you are if you want a visit!)
WHERE: Various detective agencies in the City.
WHEN: Friday and Saturday
SUMMARY: Ari needs a job, but is invisible, so Koto is going with him to help him get one as a detective cause that would be perfect for someone invisible, right?
FORMAT: Para to start, whatever you'd like after.

There were a few inherent flaws in this plan, Ari realized a bit belatedly. First: He had no idea what the heck this person he was going to meet looked like. Second: He was invisible so there wasn't any way she could spot him.

So he was standing around where she had said to meet, looking down at the communicator in his hand. If he spotted someone who looked like she was looking for someone, he could just... send her a message asking if that was her. That could work.

"You know about the stipend they give us, don't you Ari? $200 a week to all imPorts?"

He looked back at Koto and narrowed his eyes a little. "For powers training, you really don't have a choice but to pay attention to the individual. If they'll let him forgo any other classes or not, I can't say, but if there's a chance it'll help him, isn't that worth looking into?" Back to Ari, "If there's a chance you wouldn't have to be stuck like this, wouldn't you want to know?"

He rested his hands on his hips and tilted his hands with a smirk back to Koto. "If we're being honest, even if the two were separable, I don't know much about his qualifications beyond the fact that he's invisible. Then there's the fact that I'm not really looking for another employee. So as an applicant, I don't have a lot to offer him. But I can make sure he doesn't leave empty handed."

Truthfully, the only thing Koto was "trying to pull," as Ari thought, was trying to get him a job. She recoiled as Vic shot her down, retreating with a set frown that she didn't let them see. It was working so well before, she thought, the convincing. She had almost convinced herself that the convincing had been the superpower she'd been awarded by the Porter.

So she retreated and shook her head at the space where Ari was, urging him to defend himself. Obviously, if she'd had any power over Vic previously, it had disappeared.

Vic wasn't sure what to do with this. Koto was acting like he'd shouted her down when he'd simply been matter-of-fact. Never ask a question if you're not ready for the answer, he thought to himself.

"Food's actually not too expensive for $200 a week if you know what to eat. If you really feel you owe this person, you should try talking to her about. She might have some better ideas of how you could pay her back." Besides, at his age most kids need someone they can depend on.
