WHO:
arakhnes &
greengosborn
WHERE: NoHOPE
WHEN: Sunday afternoon
WARNINGS: idk. threats of violence. i guess. maybe. who knows.
SUMMARY: Spider-woman is a stupid dumbass who doesn't know when not to be stupid and Osborn is... well. him. aka visiting time.
FORMAT: action time!?
[ if Spider-man knew, he'd be so mad. if either of them, honestly. and hell, she was mad at herself for deciding that this might be a decent idea. but she couldn't just leave the idea of meeting Osborn alone. not after what had happened last time she saw him. not after what he did to Harry and then himself.
so, as stupid as the idea was, here she was, standing in this mental hospital and listening to security as they gave her instructions, directions, and the odd look for walking in there in her costume. (she couldn't risk going in civvies -- too dangerous. she couldn't show her face, not to someone like him.) a guard led her into the visiting area as she looked around and when she entered the room, there was that familiar tingling at the base of her neck. danger, danger. she was sure that thick pane of glass didn't mean anything.
Spider-woman sat down in the single chair opposite of the glass, hands folded in her lap like she was before some important person. she was quiet for a moment, before speaking. ]
Chuckles.

Chuckles.

He didn't usually even care about Spider-Woman -- of any Spider-people, she was never of importance to him, barely connected to Spider-Man except by name -- but this one... something about her was extremely familiar. Enough that it sent pangs of annoyance in his chest and temples. Not just her manner of speaking, but her attitude, her quips. There was something fishy, something, and he was curious to find out what. ]
Interesting costume. It looks even more impractical in person.
no subject
Spider-woman pushed her hair back, lips pulling tightly from under her mask. seeing him talk and just listening to him in person was filling her with emotion that she had only felt when she had confronted her father.
and of course, she had tried to kill him.
this was going to be fun. ]
I'd recommend the spandex look for you, but I'm pretty sure I don't need that burned into my retinas.
[ she paused, tilting her head ]
So what'd you do to get in here besides be a total nutjob?
no subject
[ He shrugged his shoulders, not elaborating on that point further. Supposedly he doesn't remember being the Green Goblin, after all. ]
The charges are shaky, at best. The evidence is, certainly. First-degree murder is what's on the record.
no subject
she didn't push it. she'd ask Spider-man.
she didn't bother to beat around the bush though, with the quips and comments -- she wasn't that similar to Peter, after all. the experiences were different. ]
What happened?
no subject
[ Flippantly, he waved his hand. His smirk remained. ]
I admit some of my recent actions were not my proudest. My medication was tampered with and affected me poorly; it was a trying time.
no subject
she was quiet for a moment, scrutinizing him.
medication? not like the Oz serum, probably. it must be the stuff they gave him here. but she had a hard time believing that it was "tampered" with. at least, not so that he was as victim. ]
"Recent actions?" The murder?
[ this was going to be like pulling teeth. she could tell. ]
no subject
[ He tapped his temple, eyes staying fixed upon the large white swatches of her mask. He side-stepped her question. ]
I'm on much more stable regimen here. Such a relief, too. I shouldn't be in much longer.
no subject
the only physical reaction to his last statement? her hands clenching into fists on her lap. there was that thrumming feeling of absolute hate in her stomach again. ]
Will you go to prison when you're released from here?
no subject
But we'll see if they try to arrest me.
[ He folds his hands in his lap. ]
no subject
there's a moment where she turns her head up to look at the cameras and then back to him ]
If they try to arrest you, what will you do?
no subject
They can't. I can't predict the way they'll respond, the police here aren't known for always following procedure.
[ He sits back. ]
But I've already been tried once.
no subject
And you were... found not guilty?
[ why don't people see that he's a murderer. why don't they understand that he's insane and there's no saving him?
hng. ]
no subject
[ Try arguing with that one, girlie. ]
I wasn't in my right mind. An unfortunate situation all around, really.
no subject
okay, that she'll believe. but not that he's so insane that he's unaware of what he's doing.
a beat as she thinks this over ]
What about your family? I'd feel pretty bad for myself if I was married to someone like you.
[ harry. oh god, poor harry ]
no subject
My wife has been dead for years. Harry is partially responsible for this mess [ okay, that's an exaggeration ]; I won't go into details. But he isn't my real son. He's not of my universe, at the very least.
no subject
well, at least Harry was better off. ]
That shouldn't matter though, right? His not being from your universe.
[ spoken very, very carefully... ]
no subject
[ His fingers press together in his lap, as he tries to observe every movement she makes. Her face is harder to read; all he can go by are the movements her mask makes. ]
no subject
Your universe has like, eight hundred Spider-women.
[ easier just to just vaguely address it than explain herself at all ]
no subject
And none of them have ever cared about me. Or at least, cared enough to ever act on it.
[ Starrrressss. ]
no subject
I don't care about you.
[ because saying this will change the fact that she's sitting in the visiting room, staring at him. ]
no subject
Of course you don't.
no subject
I just want to know your relationship with Spider-man.
[ that's not the whole truth but as long as she can get the topic off herself, she's good. ]
no subject
In the end, he defaults to his faux-amnesia story. Green Goblin, me? No, never. ]
Your guess is as good as mine. He's obsessed with me for some reason. Has been for years. You'd think I'd killed his girlfriend or something. [ He shrugs his shoulders. ] He is the reason my son nearly died.
no subject
not even for a second.
she ( or Peter ) would never be obsessed with him for no reason, alternate universe or not. he started it. he started everything. so there was no way, he didn't do something. ]
How? What'd he do?
no subject
[ Completely deadpan. ]
