Whatever you do, you can't stop for it
WHO: Bakura & Spike
WHERE: Hell Towers 1006
WHEN: A bit after sundown
WARNINGS: Character death
SUMMARY: Alastair is on the Major's hit list. Only he isn't home and Spike is a little to antsy to wait for him and goes for the next best and most available target.
FORMAT: Para
It had been a good day. Much better than the last week, that was sure! Keith was back, and not only sane, but better than he had been before. Sort of. Different at least. More open. Matsuka was still a wreck, but doing much better, even if Keith's return had him utterly unsure again. The puppy was helping to. Having something to care for helped keep Matsuka occupied and distracted from being too worried. Alastair had hinted that the charges he and Kiryuu were facing weren't an issue any longer and he and Quatre were... sort of speaking again. Kind of. It was a start, anyway.
He was still a bit worried over Quatre being attacked. Something was brewing, but he wasn't thinking on it just yet. Just focus on things getting better.
He looked up from his book as the rice cooker clicked back to "keep warm." Once Alastair and Kiryu were back, he'd finish up the actual cooking. Simple dinner tonight, rice and vegetables. It was the end of the week after all, and he needed to get more groceries before another fancy dinner.

It isn't who the Major asked him to kill, but he can already feel himself hesitating, trying to reason out of the situation. Buffy wouldn't approve, but then, when had she ever? Did it even matter if she wasn't there. Did any of it matter in this place and the kid was right there, acting as naive as you'd like.
"Don't-" he stops, pulling back slightly. "Don't think I caught your name."

There was something wrong here. The sudden reaction, the closeness...
His breath was starting to come a bit quickly, even as Spike pulled back. Matsuka was out with Mouse, he hadn't heard anyone in the hall for at least an hour, Alastair wasn't back yet and Kiryu almost always came home late...
He swallowed nervously. "Ba.. Bakura Ryou," he answered softly, looking at the blond with a bit of uncomfortable anticipation.
Maybe he was just worrying too much. Like how Anzu had trouble at times keeping her power from causing trouble. Or Madarame! Madarame had all but ruined a store once just trying to get a can of tuna! Maybe... maybe this was just something like that. Someone who wasn't used to enhanced speed and strength, so an action that would seem normal other wise suddenly seemed threatening because of that lack of control.
He hoped that was it.

At least a few feet. He let his hand grab the white-haired teens arm, just testing himself, grip growing gradually tighter with each word.
"You made a bad mistake, Bakura. Favor for a favor, you know. Nothing personal, kid, but a message is a message and I'm tired of waiting."

He froze, eyes going utterly huge as the meaning of what was being said hit him.
...shit.
"Ha-- hanase!" he exclaimed, trying to pull free despite the pain, a full blown panic emerging. Shield, shield! Too late he was already--
With a frantic desperation he swung his right hand out, hand glowing before he shot a blast of bright light out, hoping to be able to at least startle his attacker enough to get away and cast shield.
