[Semi Open] But as far as I can see you are still miles from me In your doorway

WHO: Bakura and anyone who would be in Hell Towers or coming to visit
WHERE: Hell Towers 10th
WHEN: All day Thursday
WARNINGS: Emo, reference to character death
SUMMARY: Bakura attempts to start dealing with the chaos that tore his world apart in his absence and come to terms with the state of his life.
FORMAT: Para to start, whatever people want after

The hardest part was the time that had passed. Passed for everyone else, but not for him. One moment, his world was fading to black, turning so so cold as his life was drained away, everything shutting down as he was pulled into the darkness once more.

And then he was in the Porter building. No soothing nothingness to cradle him, no whispering voices from times long ago, no feeling of a presence gently pushing him back, blocking his way from whatever it was waiting.

It hadn't felt real. No marks on his neck, nothing to indicate anything had happened. Only the sudden change of location. It was almost like it had been when he had worn the Ring. One moment sitting at his desk, working on his homework, the next, waking up in bed, still dressed. One moment heading back to his apartment, the next, inside the back room of the Black Crown.

One moment in his apartment, struggling to hang on to consciousness, the next, the Porter room.

It had taken him a while to even reach for the new comm, the shaking adrenaline and realization of just what had happened sending him crashing to his knees. And then the first voice to answer him, speaking words that made no sense to him.

Alastair would never...

But he had.

He didn't know what to think, what to feel, how to even respond. Something that should never have happened to him again, and yet, it had.

Don't be angry, don't be upset, he did it because you were killed, they just got in my way...

He'd stayed with Ben and Qui-Gon, not even coming up to his apartment. Not wanting to face it, not wanting to see...

He wasn't sure he even wanted to see now. The thought of the struggle that he had lost... what would it even look like? Trowa said he had prepared it, would it all be as if nothing had happened?

Was Alastair even back from the hospital...?

He stood outside the doorway, still in his indecision. The door was only inches away, but it may have been a mile.

He didn't know what to do. He couldn't hide away form it forever, he knew that at least. But nothing else was clear.

Not even who he could trust.

Vector smiled a bit at that, then held out his hand. In his other began to form the outline of Rhisling. The implication was clear enough, he thought.

Then let's go.

In truth, it hadn't occurred to Vector, either. Gripping the hand firmly, the 'man' finished forming his blade and let it cut through spacetime in one of its trademark portals.

Not a minute later, he was leading Bakura out of it in to a rather...different area. The sun was still rising, here in Japan, and it was far enough away that he hoped Bakura could at least try and clear his mind for a bit.

Ah. Well - that had been a good guess, then. Bakura seemed to react positively, and Vector squeezed his shoulder in wordless reassurance as he let sword and portal fade.

If it was all he could do to give the boy reason to smile - then that would be enough for him.

"I come here sometimes," he admitted softly, "to do more than just explore and observe. There's not much Import population, and only so much worry about them compared to the City itself."

Perhaps not the right words. Vector looked down at Bakura, gaze sad for a moment.

"Not always whenever," he noted, "but enough to make everything else worth it."

Another squeeze, and then he let go. "I thought we could walk around, a bit, if you would like. Some of that exploring...?"

"Well then, shall we be of-"

A pause. And then, a soft chuckle.

"...perhaps we should explore some stores, first?"

With a nod of his own, Vector took the lead, thinking of his mental map of this area. "I think it best if we walked there, unless you don't think those will last - one's not too far, and it may cause concern if I spacebridge in a more populated area..."

He spoke from experience.

gosh darn it fran you enabler ♥

"Hm."

Well...there was one other option. And after some few moments of thought, Vector decided that, well...it wouldn't cause any more trouble than directly spacebridging.

It wouldn't be the first time he'd given someone a ride of that sort, either. And not even the first with Bakura.

"Let's try it this way," he decided, kneeling down and holding out a hand once more.

FOR ADORABLE MENTAL IMAGES, YES. ahaha.

That was all right, Vector was there to guide him, arranging first one arm and then the other, then the other limbs.

"Hold tight," he ordered, before rising slowly.

And continuing to rise, making sure Bakura had a grip before moving upwards, towards the clouds.

It wasn't a fast flight, nor was it the sort filled with loops and twirls - but even with his reduced speed, Vector enjoyed the feel of the wind on his face, breathing lightly as he rose as quickly as he could.

Then began to glide, letting gravity do half his work for him.

"So," he said over the wind, "how long might we have, until your friends start to worry?"

"As you say, then!" He wouldn't press further. "I won't keep you too long - but we can do this again, if you wish. Though I must insist next time you wear proper footwear before stepping in to the spacebridge with me."

Let me know if it's not okay to fast forward!

Vector couldn't help but smile at that, doing his best to ensure the trip went as smoothly as possible. Before too long, though, he was landing, bending his knees as he touched down to give Bakura less of a 'fall' when he dropped.

"Here we are."
