Blackbird Singing in the Dead of Night [ OPEN ]
WHO:
just_daine and Costumed Folks
WHERE: All over!
WHEN: All day and night
WARNINGS: Possible violence?
SUMMARY: DAINE STALKS SUPERHEROES IN BIRD FORM
FORMAT: Starting as prose, but switching to action is acceptable
Daine had always known that hunting was the best way to get food when one was in want of a job, as she was. She dared not spend the stipend given her for a position she had yet to fully understand, much less accept. In a city like this one, though, there wasn't much game to be found. Her best bet was to change and take whatever she could get in the way of seeds, scraps, and maybe even some bugs if she got really desperate.
That was how she found out about the 'capes'. The rats who had introduced her to the city hadn't told her about the costumed superheroes running around night and day. To them, all humans wore funny cloth that would serve them better as bedding or maybe as something shiny to add to their home. These costumes were entirely different, and they deserved an explanation.
Unfortunately for Daine, her clothes didn't change with her when she became a bird and took to the skies. She had left them in the little room given her by the people who brought her here. There was simply no choice. If she wanted an explanation, she would have to do as Numair had once suggested: observe.
[ooc | Start a thread with a time and place and I'll give you a type of fowl to be stalked by! If you aren't wearing a silly costume, feel free to improvise or use animal-related superpowers on her! ]

< Oh, yes! I'm so sorry, I started gabbing away and forgot to introduce myself. My name is Daine. I need to get back to Tortall, if it isn't too much trouble. >

Daine. [ A thoughtful noise, low and rumbling. ] Were you taught qhen, Daine?
no subject
< I'm sorry, I don't know what that is. >
no subject
It would have been too much to hope for, anyway. ]
But you are a shapechanger?
no subject
< I'm told it's called Wild Magic. >
no subject
And can you take any shape?

WHAT A LOSER
[ She's not sure if she'll be impressed or offended if she can. ]
CLEARLY

[ It's said with a little huff, and she finally sits up from her lounge. It's better, she hesitatingly decides, that Daine not be a dragon. A dragon can be a human, but no human is fit to be a dragon. And especially not one as meek as this one. ]
Although my magic can do a great many things, only the Porter can get you home again.

< I'm terribly sorry to have bothered you for nothing. >
no subject
How did you learn to change your shape?
no subject
< The Badger God helped me. Apparently I've been able to do it all my life, only I never knew. >
no subject
How?

You're very free with your information.

Is it only dragons that get the full truth from you, then?
no subject
< Not at all! I tell the truth all the time. Well, often, anyway. >

Move that to "rarely" and you might survive this plane.

[ and why is she trying to warn a human child about this. she should just let her see. ]
