(no subject)

WHO: Thor and Loki.
WHERE: Thor's house, otherwise known as Hercules's house where Thor is a total freeloader in a complete reversal of fortunes
WHEN: Wednesday evening.
WARNINGS: No
SUMMARY: Loki poisons Thor's pizza.
FORMAT: No, absolutely not

The contents of Hercules's refrigerator were few, apart from beer, ketchup, and cheese dip, which made a simple thing like a sandwich require an unreasonable amount of creativity. Thor cut huge slices of the last tomato (indeed, the only vegetable to be found) and thought of how good it would be if Hercules were Jarvis, and could take care of this sort of thing.

When Loki had cast the spell to find Thor, he did not expect to wind up standing in a kitchen watching him make a sandwich.

This did not please Loki, and he idly wondered who would let Thor into their house.

"Be at ease, brother. I do not bring you harm." Loki paused for a moment, then added, quicker, "If my words cannot be proof, then let my actions speak in their place. For surely you could smite me where I now stand. And surer still, you cannot think me so foolish as to court war where I've no hope of triumph?"

Loki held up his hands in a small gesture of surrender.

What did bring Loki here? He'd not even come up with a reason to tell himself, let alone Thor. Perhaps there was simply no one else to go to, which of course was nothing Loki could admit.

"I do not like this."

"I do not like this. I did not traverse the fires of Ragnarok so that I might find myself caged anew." If Loki was to escape the eternal cycle, he would do it on his terms. All the pieces he'd carefully goaded into place, tossed off the table by the shrug of some machine. It offended Loki's sense of superiority.

"Or is the favored son of Odin content with his hovel of luchmeats?"

Loki's expression grew undignified for an instant. Obviously, Thor would not know of his plans, if Loki had struck the necessary bargains before dying. Obviously, Loki could not ask. He blamed Thor for this.

"Death has ever waited for me in Asgard. Nor have the perils of freedom e'er endeared me to chains."

He took a step back, Loki's elaborate hat almost banging up against some of the cabinets. It was not really an indoor hat.

"Be that what thou desirest? Do you mock me, brother, with these tidings of my death? Do you mean to dangle them before me like meat on the hook?"

Loki was certainly curious, but he was not sure what well he'd fall into should he indulge that curiosity. Furthermore, it infuriated him that Thor would know something about Loki that Loki did not.

"Aye? And that is why I did protest, coming here, that I meant thee no harm. For surely you would embrace me as a brother did I not."

They were unfair words, and he spoke them without much thinking. Loki was hardly stupid and would not have come if he'd expected Thor to attack him. But then, none of this was what he had expected, and that angered him.

Still, perhaps Thor's apparent grief could be turned to his advantage.
