[dave is in a cot in the hospital with more bandages on than king tut after a tp party. visiting hours are now!!]

[And Jade is sitting beside him, looking exhausted and worried and frazzled all at once. She rubs her eyes as she leans back into her chair.]

Hey, Dave? How are you doing?

[ Hold that thought, Dave, because right now John is busting through the door with a shawled figure. He'll usher them in while he leans head out into the hallway to see how many people are around.

And it looks like... no one is following or anything bad is going to happen, so twisting his head around towards the other two. ]

Hi guys.

[ this is stupid. this is so many levels of stupid stupid dumb. but after having spent a week out of the city, and John bringing her back, the disguise isn't really enough to bother her anymore. despite the fact that her grimdark aura is still going strong.

still she's shuffling into the room and once the door's shut, she's unwrapping the scarves from her face and once she sees her brother...

well she's not saying anything. ]

[looks at jade for a second, and looks away again.] For the last time, I couldn't be happier if I were a dog eating its own shit. I'm fine.

[turns his head over to john and... rose. he had heard that she flipped her shit over beta dave. so yeah, that was uncomfortable.]

Sup?

[Jade's breath catches in her throat when Rose and John enter. She is so, so glad they're okay. She stands to greet them, an almost nervous grin spreading across her face.]

Hi! How are the two of you doing?

[Even if Rose is obviously all right physically, she's still worried. To be honest, Jade is a little wary of her.]

We're okay! Rose just really wanted to come see Dave I think, so...

[ He glances over nervously at Rose, like he's not quite sure what she'll do himself. He's sure nothing dangerous to any of them, but Dave doesn't exactly look great right now, and he doesn't want Rose going after Gamzee again. ]

See, Rose? I told you he was going to be okay!

[ He doesn't look as confident as he's trying to sound. ]

[ she's just looking between all of them, eyes kind of glowing brighter. she's not sure what to think. that was an alternate timeline dave. a different dave. and gamzee was still out there.

she doesn't say anything at first, just walking up to dave, shedding the rest of her scarves. there's a pause and then as blankly, and emotionlessly as she can possibly muster ]

You insufferable prick.

[ and then raising a hand to slap him across the face. it's light, but it still stings a little. ]

[... welp. dave looks back at her. even if both his arms didn't hurt, he probably wouldn't go to touch his face. none of it was his damn fault, after all.]

[Maybe Dave doesn't think it's a big deal, but Jade is so wound up from the events of the past week that when Rose hits Dave, her first reaction is to step forward and shove her back. It isn't a hard push by any means, just barely enough to force her to step back. Jade looks surprised at herself nevertheless.]

[ John meanwhile is still standing by the door staring at the three of them like they're all insane.

[ she just rolls her eyes at dave.

or rather, she was in the middle of rolling her eyes when jade shoves her. her gaze kind of widens at this and she frowns but proceeds to sit on the edge of Dave's bed instead.

[rolls his eyes right back. you totally saw that through his shades. magically.]

No horseplay. So you didn't get him? Awesome.

[Jade bites her lip and hesitates before sitting down beside Rose. She can't believe she just did that, but she also can't bring herself to apologize.]

John stopped you, right?

[ Walking over to join the group, but standing next to the head of the bed so he can try to get a better look at Dave's mummy face. ]

Uhm! Yeah! Mostly... I mean, he is still alive out there, so we are going to have to be really careful. And I don't think either if you guys should go out by yourselves.

[ A beat as he turns to look at Jade, small apologetic smile. ]

No offense.

[ narrowing her eyes at Dave. ]

He has flash step. I can't catch him. He moves too fast for my magic.

[ and turning to look at Jade ]

If not for that, he would be dead now.

[ but she's nodding in agreement with John ]

We don't know if he'll come after you two again.

[so you can outrun grimdarkness? good to know.]

[he just shrugs and looks out the window.] Fine. Whatever.

[Jade sighs, raking a hand through her hair.]

What do you want to do, then? Leave? We can't stay inside forever.

No! I mean, that's not exactly what I mean!! I just think you guys shouldn't be alone when you walk around the City. Just in case.

[ A hesitant pause though. ]

Uhm... and I think we have a lot of friends here, but...

I don't know if either of you guys saw the video Rose made. I guess you probably didn't because you were here. So I am guessing you didn't see what happened.

What I'm saying is, I think we probably shouldn't go back to our apartment right now. Or you know, whenever Dave is better.

[ she doesn't look sheepish at the mention of the video, but there's a quick of her frowning even more. that was a spurt of the insanity, she knows it. the threat, warning anyone who would dare come after them. ]

John's right. It's not safe, for any of us. If Gamzee can easily kill any version of Dave, if I am unable to stop him, we don't know how well this will turn out for us.

We'll need to go somewhere else.

[doesn't really move from position one. yeah, that makes sense. whatever.] We house-squatting again?

[She leans back onto her hands, being careful not to disturb Dave.]

How far away do you think we should go?

Just for now! I mean, until we can get our own place without using our names maybe...

But I was thinking if we stayed in the state, but left the City maybe we would be okay?

[ she doesn't sit completely on the bed, instead floating an inch or so off it ]

It's the best idea we have right now.

[no response from dave. :| as long as they get out of the state without breaking him again he is pretty chill with anything they come up with.]

Okay. Let's do it! We will have to wait until Dave is okay, though.

Right.

Rose and I might be able to go ahead! And find somewhere for us to settle down in for awhile, and you two can stay here, and we can just come check on you every day to make sure you guys are okay.

[ touching the translator in her ear ]

I can find something with my cue ball to make the search simple. What's we've done that, John and I can acquire the place and get it ready for you two's arrival.

It shouldn't be much of a problem.

[shrug] Sweet.

Okay! That sound like a good plan!

[She forces a smile.]

And I will take good care of Dave, don't worry.

Take care of yourself too though, okay?
