WHO: Moonybase folk
WHERE: Moonybase (Potterbase? idek.)
WHEN: A SUNNY AFTERNOON. Today.
WARNINGS: This is going to be so cute it may give you cavities. Or at least, that's the hope.
SUMMARY: Lily has a monkey. And she's dancing with it.
FORMAT: quicklog!
[Lily Potter, thanks to her husband, now has a baby pygmy marmoset to care for. And if there's something she's learned about baby pygmy marmosets in the days since James brought her Hedwig Elvendork Potter, it's that they like to run and jump and generally get into everything. And since Lily just cleaned up the aftermath of Hedwig's last adventure, she's taken her outside to play, and run around, and hopefully get some of that energy out. After all, things like that generally worked with baby Harry, so why wouldn't it work with a baby monkey?
Eventually Hedwig settles down a bit, and Lily, not ready to go inside yet, decides to teach her baby monkey to dance. Sure, she can't reach the ground, and it's really just Lily dancing around while holding a baby monkey, but still. If you ask her, she's teaching Hedwig how to dance, and that's all that matters.]

When he sees what exactly his wife is up to, he laughs and heads over to wrap his arms around Lily's waist.]

He seems perfectly happy to follow Lily about wherever she happens to be, and snooze fitfully for brief periods. Hedwig, however, he's not...entirely sure what to do with, but again, life is less complicated when you're a dog, and if this tiny thing is part of the pack now, then it's part of the pack now and that's all there is to it.

Once Hedwig, after spending her afternoon running around like a monkey on a sugar high, is asleep, she plops herself down on the grass next to her doggy companion, and scratches him behind the ears. "A bit of sunshine might do you some good. Vitamin D, and all that."

Lily is a good Lily. And Lily's been in the sun for a while herself, which means she will have more freckles. James is completely useless over Lily's freckles, so he will be happy about this. James and Lily will be happy and everything will be wonderful, even if Lily's hand smells like monkey. That is totally fine.

"You know, most people would think this is a bit weird."
She's only teasing. If she's ever actually thought it's a bit weird that she's sitting here giving her husband's best friend tummy rubs, it's something she got over long ago, and now it's just one of those things that she's used to, like James feeling the need to prance around in Stag form at random moments. She'd never tell him, but it's almost like having a pet dog, but better, really, because, well, there's less maintenance. No daily walks, and cleaning up dog poo out of the yard.

He likes that Lily knows about Padfoot and Prongs. He'd gotten so used to using Padfoot as an emotional buffer between himself and the horrible feelings the Dementors would dreg up in him that Sirius was finding it easier than ever to switch between dog and man almost unconsciously when he felt the need arise. He knew that many people found the dog-man thing odd, and weren't sure how to treat him when he was on four paws rather than two feet. The other Marauders got it, naturally, but it was a pleasant surprise when Lily instinctively continued to talk to him like he was a regular person, but scratch his ears as if he was a regular dog.

"Now, for the important stuff. Since you're in a Padfoot mood, James is dead to the world, and I'm more likely to set things on fire than cook them, it'll probably be takeout tonight. What do you think? Chinese? Pizza?"
I HAVE WRITTEN YOU A SILLY TAG. DO WITH IT AS YOU WILL.
But no, no, he can actually contribute to this decision-making process. He streeeetches massively (which is a more literal description when you're a dog that big, even if he's underweight) and then gets to his feet. Bending down to very gently pick Hedwig Elvendork up in his mouth, he trots to the house and the door swings open for him, because he may be a dog but he is still a wizard and he's thought of such things.
Hedwig Elvendork goes (carefully!) onto the couch, which is obviously where Lily should sit also, before Sirius heads into the kitchen to tug open the drawer with the take away menus in.
He looks at them solemnly before casting a pained look back over his shoulder. LILY. IT IS HARD TO READ AS A DOG.
Oh wait this one smells like pizza here have this one. OH OR CURRY. Here, Padfoot is bringing you two slightly-slobbery menus, you pick what you want.
SILLY TAG FTW
"Pizza would be easier for you to eat if you decide to stay like you are now." Which is something that's very important to consider when picking food. "But you can never go wrong with curry."

She's just a room away in the sitting room still teaching the newest addition to the home how to dance and Remus takes a second to enjoy the sight. It gets a tired smile out of him.
"Enjoying yourself?"

"Sit, before you fall over. Would you like some tea?"
no subject
He takes the couch, dropping down and leaning back into the cushions, bringing a hand to his mouth thoughtfully before letting it drop into his lap.
"Are they here?"
no subject
As she's warming up the tea, Hedwig Elvendork decides to make friends with their visitor, and is jumping from Lily to Remus. Lily smiles. "Have you met Hedwig yet?"
no subject
"I haven't had the pleasure," he answers, more than a little surprised that the animal had approached him in the first place, but the monkey was too young to know a predator. "Adjusting well are you?"
Since this isn't an Animagus he's talking to, Hedwig's not really supplying helpful sounds in reply, just using the material of his turtleneck to climb up to his shoulder.
"You'll have a full house at this rate."
no subject
She pours two cups of tea, and fills a plate of food for Remus, whether he likes or not. It's there. "Eat and drink up. How are you feeling?"
no subject
He can't argue with that, considering he'd opened this house to so many people since being pulled into the City. Now it was Lily's turn to do the same. It seemed more than a little appropriate. "So it does."
He's quiet for a minute, picking up one of the cups and considering it for a moment before taking a long drink.
"I've had worse moons. I should be fine by tomorrow."
no subject
"Were you here to see James and Sirius? I could go get them for you, if you'd like."
