WHO: Raven and Tonks
WHERE: Tonks's MAC apartment?
WHEN: Thursday Night, late
WARNINGS: None? Maybe some drinking.
SUMMARY: Raven and Tonks talk about suddenly arriving family.
FORMAT: Para to start then whatever.
Raven yawned as she walked along the hall, covering her mouth with the back of her hand. It had been hours since Charles arrived, but between that and the ten hour shift she'd worked that afternoon, she was reaching the point where she was having trouble keeping her eyes open and her skin not blue. But she had told Tonks that she'd come by, and somehow she suspected that having her mother show up was a lot more stressful than Raven having her brother pop up.
Not that Raven really knew, since she didn't remember her own, and Charles's mother had been...distant. Still, she knew other people's moms! And she wouldn't have wanted that sort of person in the city with her, she suspected. So...here she was, just as promised.
She leaned against the doorframe, pausing to make sure her 'blonde' guise was still up, and then gave a knock and waited.

Tonks had never wanted to be told what happened. She was not going to remember her time in the City if she was eventually sent back. To Tonks that meant that she couldn't change anything even if she knew. Why worry about it? Why stress about something that you couldn't prevent? It had been going well for her, until now.
Andromeda didn't even have to tell her everything. It was just there, on the network, for everyone to see. How was she suppose to deal with this? Tonks didn't know.
After she had gotten her mother settled, gotten her a few groceries and some money out for in the morning, Tonks had retreated back to her own apartment in the MAC. Sleep didn't come to her and soon Tonks had found herself longing for firewhiskey but settling for the Muggle version instead.
When Raven knocked on her door, Tonks answered it wearing an over-sized yellow t-shirt and a pair of blue shorts. "Wotcher Raven. Thanks for dropping by."

Raven was in a pair of jeans and a grey blouse, though whether they were real or shape-shifted was anyone's guess. She covered her mouth to stiffle a yawn and then grinned at her friend, moving to sit down on the couch without so much as a by-your-leave because standing up was exhausting at this point.
"So...your mom, huh?

She sat down next to Raven. "Yeah, my Mum. You're lucky. It's just your brother." Tonks reached for her glass. "D'you know how far ahead he is or you are yet?"
no subject
"Not a lot. Maybe a day?" Raven shrugged and took a sip from her glass. "What about you two?

"Ahead or behind?"

She set it back on the table with a thud, then leaned back again. "...Is that good or bad?"

"...Tonks. I'm..." She frowned at her friend. "...I'm sorry."

So what's the problem with her now?
no subject
"...Maybe you should be with your mother?"

"But for tonight it'll just be you and me, okay? We can...talk about whatever you want. Or anything else." A little pause and a small grin. "At least until I fall asleep."
no subject
"Thanks Raven." She laid her head on Raven's shoulders. "Oh, I forgot. How did things go with Charles?"
no subject
"...Uh, alright? I think he's pretty overwhelming...like I was when I got here, honestly. But he's Charles, so he's already making friends." She smiled faintly. "He always seems to be good at that, somehow."
no subject
"Well, at least he has you to help and you have me to help, so there's that." An idea crossed her mind, "D'you have any embarrassing stories about him?"
no subject
"Okay, Charles has this way of trying to pick up women, right? He talks about his work, being a mutant, trying to make them feel special, by making them different. And it works...sometimes." She grinned. "Of course, Charles doesn't always get drawn to the...smartest...women in the world."
"So sometimes, when he starts slipping 'oh we're all mutants' into the conversation, instead of getting a pretty face hanging on his every word, he gets a glass of booze in his face. Or in his hair. Or down his shirt."

"But yes, he's one of those. He has a whole system, really, flirting and everything. We can almost never go to the pub when he hasn't tried to pick up some empty blonde thing." She rolled her eyes and shrugged.
"It can be pretty funny most of the time, though he tends to forget I'm there."
Raven was talking just to fill the air. She could tell Tonks was tired, and figured boring the girl to sleep would probably be a good deed.

"Empty blond thing, hrmm..." Tonks voice trailed off. Her eyes were so heavy. "That's rude of him. We should teach him a lesson if he does that again..." She yawned again.
no subject
"Although knowing Charles he'll find people on the network. Still, I doubt there are many empty blonde things behind brought in here." Except herself, really, but she wasn't going to say that...and she wasn't really an empty blonde thing. "But if he does, I'm sure we can come up with something."
