The afternoon was sunny with a pleasant breeze. A tent had gone up in the yard, and each of the main rooms of the house were decorated along the theme of a garden paradise. Enchanted leis and large straw hats were there for the taking, and various wizarding games had been laid out: exploding snap, a chessboard whose pieces currently looked rather board, Pin The Nose On Voldemort (with a variety of comedic noses to choose from). there was a table, already piled high with gifts but with plenty of room for more.

Food had been made and set out, and meltless charms had been cast on all of the icecream. There were wo big bowls of punch. One of them is charmed to be spike-free, the other...well. It may eventually dissolve the bowl and the table beneath it.

All that is missing is YOU!

"True true. Got to keep your strength up." Sirius responds by shoving the rest of his handful at James's face. Helpfully.

"Exactly." James shoves him again, aiming to push him on the floor. "Oi, I'm going to make you clean that!"

If Sirius is going down, you're coming down with him.

"Really? You seem to be quite bent on the idea of licking it all up yourself! Greedy bastard."

Which of course is Sirius's explanation for why James is also on the ground, crouched over the fallen crisps. It couldn't possibly have anything to do with Sirius's hand on James's head.

Certainly not! That would just be silly.

James flails a little, laughing, and attempts to wrestle Sirius to the ground. "Not if I make you do it first!"

And thus was Harry Potter's birthday celebration official christened, by his father and godfather doing their level best to sweep the floor with each others' faces. In the time-honored tradition.

Sirius eventually solved the problem by turning into Padfoot, eating the fallen crisps, and sitting on James's foot.

It is a long-standing tradition, indeed. Potter celebrations must always be christened in this manner. So it has been since the grand year of 1971.

James promptly sat down and proceeded to give Padfoot scritches, so -- all is well in the house of Potter, presumably.
