[OPEN] They say it's your birthday || We're gonna have a good time!
WHO: Most of the HP cast and ANYONE WHO IS FRIENDS WITH HARRY
WHERE: Potterbase (née Moonybase)
WHEN: TODAY, 7/31/11
WARNINGS: Parents being shmoopy
SUMMARY: IT'S HARRY POTTER'S BIRTHDAY Y'ALL!
FORMAT: Any!
The afternoon was sunny with a pleasant breeze. A tent had gone up in the yard, and each of the main rooms of the house were decorated along the theme of a garden paradise. Enchanted leis and large straw hats were there for the taking, and various wizarding games had been laid out: exploding snap, a chessboard whose pieces currently looked rather board, Pin The Nose On Voldemort (with a variety of comedic noses to choose from). there was a table, already piled high with gifts but with plenty of room for more.
Food had been made and set out, and meltless charms had been cast on all of the icecream. There were wo big bowls of punch. One of them is charmed to be spike-free, the other...well. It may eventually dissolve the bowl and the table beneath it.
All that is missing is YOU!

She smirks when he leans in, however. "Ah, I see. Well, it's good of you to test your wares before you inflict them on poor, sweet Harry." Andromeda brings a hand up to rub the back of her neck.
"I'm going to have to look harder for a job so that I can actually afford to get people presents. It's a bit shameful to have your daughter paying for things."

"Ah, work. The stipend they give imPorts who stay at the MAC is better than nothing, but not amazing. And if you move out, you're just out of luck. I've been getting by making people's motorbikes fly, mostly, but it's not exactly steady." Not that Sirius would be any good whatsoever working a normal job where his hours were set by someone else. He'd either be miserable or get himself fired.
"What sort of job are you looking for."

That's all right though, Sirius. It's more exciting for everyone else this way!
"I should hope you've ironed it out enough that Harry isn't going to have to work on spontaneous levitation of himself, then." She doesn't think he'd give his godson anything legitimately dangerous on purpose, though.
"That sounds like fun, at least. As far as what I'm looking for, I think I'm going to stick to what I know and try to break into the muggle medicine realm. I spent enough years as a wizarding nurse that I ought to be able to manage all right as long as I can slip a spell or two in." Hell, she might actually do some good, and that's appealing.

"Then we were ported out and back in again, in our twenties, and we more or less polished off some serviceable wizarding transport. Now however, with my seasoned expertise, I think I've made something that a witch or wizard would actually be proud to own."
Not that...he had a lot more experience now than he did when he was younger, but surely obsessive fiddling and reckless personal endangerment count for something.

Andromeda is ... interested to hear that Sirius came here more than once as a younger man. The idea of being teleported here multiple times isn't something that she finds really encouraging or pleasing, but it's -- good information to have.
She tries for a smile. "I'm sure that Harry will love it, and be able to control it to boot." He was a smart and capable wizard, after all, if she'd learned anything during the end of the war.
"This is really a lovely place -- much better than the MAC, although I suppose it does fine for its purpose."

Wow. Someone's a chatty Cathy, but...he wants to share something of himself with her. Something that isn't anger and tragedy.
"Then he was ported out and qhen he came back, he didn't remember anything. Remus or Ruka, whom they had adopted, and certainly not me. He...tried, but if you had shown up here with a partner and family who were complete strangers to you, what would you have done? "
Sirius is speaking qyietly now, half to himself. Alright, so there really isn't much in his life that isn't tragic, even if this tragedy belonged more to others than him.
"It hasn't been the same since."

She just nods along with his words, though, taking it in and not wanting to interrupt. If Sirius wants to share this with her she's going to be as respectful as she can; he's still her cousin and she wants to know what's going on in his life, whether he's a difficult git most of the time or not.
"I can see how that would be hard for him. Hard for the rest of you too, though." Particularly Remus, but they weren't talking about him right now.
"At least now you've got Lily and James to keep you company. Harry too, I imagine?"

It wasn't very long ago at all for Sirius, that he was standing in the Forbidden Forest with Harry, looking up at the moon, talking about having a home with him. That was when he thought they would turn Pettigrew in. When he thought he would be exonerated, free at last to rejoin the world and take his place in it.
That had not happened, and now, thanks to Snape, he knew it never would. Here, in the City, it could, but that would involve leaving James's side.
"So," Sirius says, clearing his throat as if the thinness in his voice could be attributed to a slight cough. "Are you and Dora going to find a place of your own? You'd be welcome here if you just want to get out of the MAC for a little while."
no subject
"I suppose I could see that being a bit strange, living with James and Lily when he was just a baby to them not long ago." She can only imagine the smothering he'd endure -- actually, she can imagine it perfectly, because she supposes it's the same sort of smothering that Nymphadora will eventually be enduring from her.
"Yes, Dora's actually already looking for a place. I don't know where it's going to be, but I trust she'll find something appropriate."
