Dance the Night Away

SUMMARY: A night of salsa dancing was the perfect way to catch up with people and meet new friends, Sofia wasn't quite prepared for what people consider dancing

The dance hall is downtown, near a few bars. Cheerful salsa music is playing, and some songs have an instructor guiding the newbies through. The rest of the songs, are a free for all.

There's a seated area for anyone needed to grab a drink after a fast dance. Sofia is there, grabbing a coke while she waits for her friends.

"It suits you," Sofia says honestly leading her onto the edge of the dance floor. "This places only seems to dislike jeans."

Laura paused on the edge of the dance floor, considering the dancers. "I was taught to dance when I was a child, but it was not like...this." She glanced at her outfit again, fairly certain Sofia was just being nice with her comment but letting it pass.

"Salsa's got more of a party feel. I got taught ballet, but this is much more fun with friends."

[girlverine]

"I..." She was taught dancing as a means of infiltrating expensive banquets and parties to kill people. Which she was fairly certainly wasn't an appropriate thing to say. "I was taught ballroom dancing." There, that would do.

[wind_dancer]

"This is just another version of ballroom, it's Latin, it requires a lot more hip action." Sofia demonstrates.

[girlverine]

Laura said nothing as Sofia demonstrated, her head tilted slightly to the side. It was much like the other people on the dance floor were doing, though...she wasn't entirely sure she could actually do it.

After a few seconds of silence though, she did try.

[wind_dancer]

"Just relax a little Laura, don't look around, just listen to the music." It was the best advice she could give.

[girlverine]

Laura frowned at that, looking...frustrated. She stopped dancing. "I am not very good at relaxing."

[wind_dancer]

"This will help you relax, you should relax a little, you'll smile more then."

[girlverine]

Laura had no idea what to say to that so she just nodded, watching Sofia and the other dancers before she started to try again. She was good at learning though, especially at physical activities, so she was getting the patterns and styles quickly enough.

"That's it, are you ready to try some of the spins?"

[girlverine]

Laura honestly wasn't certain if she was, but after a few more seconds of watching people, she nodded.

"Yes."

[wind_dancer]

Sofia takes hold of Laura's hand again and brings it over Laura's head so she can twirl.
